I can’t tell if my dealership changed my oil or not.

I checked my oil dip stick after my A service and the oil still looks dirty or the dealership never changed my oil at all. I used to do my own oil change and I know what clean engine oil suppose to looks like afterwards. I’ve attached a picture of the dipstick. What you guys think? Is it changed or not? This gets me kind of worried after paying $200....

Hard to tell, how many miles on the car, I see it's a 2010 so it's older, with higher miles you get deposits that don't automatically flush out just by draining it so the new oil looks darker than you'd think. My Diesel VW no way I can tell if the oil has been changed as diesels get black deposits and when new oil goes in it gets discolored right away. We use to have this question come up sometimes, I use to own 10 minute oil change places before I retired and sometimes people would question this, it was generally higher mileage older cars. The main source of complaints was you either overfilled or under filled the car. 9 times out of 10 the customer had checked the oil on unlevel ground and gave them a false reading, we use to use charts and double check levels so it was generally right going out. Maybe in the future if there is some way you could watch at least when the oil goes in you will know for sure, thats one thing I generally do just to make sure.

I get what you’re saying but i barely drove my car from the last time i changed the oil , less than 3k miles. my old jeep liberty with 140k miles has cleaner oil after i do the oil change.

I would probably say if you need to check this sort of thing you should probably find a new dealer, also they dont drain the oil out, they siphon it.

I think your oil is clean. Yes they siphon it out and also they use full synthetic that looks like dirty oil right out of the bottle

Yeah, it doesn't look totally clean but when the M1 comes out of my 911 and 328 after 5000 mi., it is BLACK.

I think you're good.
