saw this e63TT today in boca raton, fl while at stop light.... wonder if it was anyones on here? looks like driver took a pretty nasty hit

Yeah, that looks terrible. Hopefully, the driver walked away without any serious injuries, but looks highly doubtful. I actually hope it's no one on here that owns that car.

Benz takes safety very seriously... I feel very safe in my car. I really hope the driver is ok. This could have been any one of us.

Looking at that side impact, can you imagine if it was a fiberglass vette or a Honda.

maybe would of looked something like this... it all really depends on the speed, the angle and the mass of what it is impacting with... newtons 2nd law f=m*a... the bigger and faster the object that is striking the other object, the greater the force

I agree. Like what I said in my first reply, but if we look at all the photos, fiberglass shatters on the impact and metals bent.

Hopefully the survival space has been maintained. The B pillar does not appear to be involved in this case. Around 5 years ago, I combed through iihs, nhtsa, and various ncap data on various cars in this class and I found out that W212's structure has the least amount of protrusion into the cabin from a side impact. The difference might not seem like much, but sure will make the difference between surviving or bleed out from a pelvic fracture. Another reason I ended up with the W212 rather than similar offerings from Audi and Bimmer.

Nasty indeed. Hope that driver/passengers were OK. Remember this RS6 Avant crash... guy was OK... thankfully no passengers, b/c they'd have been f'ked.
