Turbo-back Down pipes
I just recently picked up a turbo-back down pipe from Ultimate Performance Design. As everyone can see, these pipes are the same as what's being sold everywhere else. Great quality and the piece connecting to the turbos are thick and well built! UPD/Shardul/Brook are selling these pipes now as well
Looking inside of it, it had a lip on the lower 1/4 of the circumference I did not like so I had that ground flat. I also had it 3000 degree ceramic coated (titanium color).
It will be installed next week and soon after, a stock resonator (thanks KLR) will be welded back in. I removed the resonator, but I think I will want it back after downpipe install. I will post after coating pics later tonight
I am also decided to stick with Renntech and have then retune for the catless downpipes. I will redyno after install and add to this thread as well as the Rentech tune thread.
Anyway here are some before pics:

Looks familiar.... When you think you doing the install? I haven't installed mine as I am still waiting on my Turbos to be done, and since I am dropping the motor for that, no sense in rushing to install. I am doing heat wrap on mine instead of ceramic coat though.

shinny and purdy looking forward to seeing the results! how much did upd pipes cost?
for the moment i am doing some speedriven catless dp's and re-tune with renntech until i can find some cheaper AWD turbo pipes (waiting to hear from powerhouse performance as they said they are working on some awd ones) as i cant bring myself to pay $6K for the weistec turbo pipes

And I agree....$6k just does not sound palatable for a 20-30rwhp tops.
I think there could be big gains up top with these pipes (5500-6500rpm my guess is 50-70rwhp gain), but it will not change the actual peak number (usually around 5000 to 5200 rpm) by much more than ~20 or 30rwhp

Also as a added bonus, I'll post the post install temperature changes.
So far after a couple of hard runs and left idling for about 5 mins I saw 300 to 330 degrees Fahrenheit on the stock turbo back bridge section on both sides. Let's see how the 3000 degree ceramic coating works.

It was almost stock like cruising but when you push the go pedal, you definitely hear it. Freeway was quite tame, stop and go you know something's up for sure.
Resonator went back in cos cold starts were kinda loud for 15-20seconds and I leave my house ~630am everyday

How is the smell running catless? Some cars smell like a diesel refinery, others not. I figured with the turbos in the exhaust stream its probably not that bad.

Not too bad except in garages and idling with the windows down. I do have an extremely sensitive nose so take my notice on that front with a grain of salt

So another update...
The car sounds PHENOMENAL with the stock resonator in place. The sound was RAW, loud and mean with straight pipes but with the resonator it has lost a lot of the rawness and developed a very refined tone. The last car I heard that I could compare it with was like riding in a Gallardo. It is still quite loud under WOT but you need to go WOT to hear anything intrusive at all.
The biggest change IMO seems to be at freeway speeds, it just pulls!!!
Prior to the downpipes, my car was a beast from stop or slow speeds and up. Dropping the hammer after 60 was great but nothing to write home about. With the pipes and retune (Renntech before and after), dropping the hammer at freeway speeds feels like from 20mph, just pulls and pulls hard!
It really feels like the delta change I got from stock to Renntech tune the first time around (I know I know, I did not gain an additional 80rwhp and 180rw plus torque)

sounds like a nice pickup! and good assessment as with just a tune anywhere on the street mashing on the pedal was quite impressive but mashing on it on highway when already at highway speeds not as impressive, so glad to hear the DP's changed that been looking to gain a bit more get-up-and-go at highway speeds without going full turbo swap yet, so sounds like this is it
