2013 E63 Downpipes install??

I was considering getting downpipes and a tune?

will the engine have to be removed to install the turbo back downpipes?

I see the downpipes that just replace the cats are a simple cut and dry install
like the old mustang 5.0 h-pipe. just 20X$$ the cost LOL

No engine removal necessary.

If you want to change the turbo pipe you need to remove the engine (it is very difficult to remove it without removal the engine) http://redlinespeedworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/m157eclsdp8.jpg

If you want to change the downpipe, no engine removal necessary

Turbo back was quoted at 8-10 hours for RWD no engine removal. The AWD will be a bit more and will require at least lifting the engine from what i could see

$1250 isn't that bad.

Also: 8-10 hours is for the removal, yes, but the gains on that bridge pipe don't seem to be enough (IMO) to warrant that extra work. Save doing that for when you upgrade the turbos. Don't spend that labor money twice, you know? 1.5-2.0 hours for the DPs makes sense, and they'll serve you well enough sound/performance wise until you're ready for the billets or GT28 conversion down the road. Otherwise (like I said) you're just spending $1000 on labor that you'll end up spending again.

Do the DP's and remove the cats, but leave any resonator - you will LOVE the results. I paid $1,000 for labor and $1,600 for the DP's. It sounds so good at startup, it makes people jump. At wide open throttle it is so engaging, the transmission banging out those shifts at full volume. You can actually hear the turbos much better (with the windows down, especially). My favorite mod thus far. Throw in some ECU tuning and you have just spend not a lot of money for a big change in your car.

I just noticed what year car OP was referring to, hell yes do the TB downpipes. I think anything else is a waste of effort and time lol.
I guess I should schedule my dyno so I can see what the TB pipes did on my car

I was originally going to get the turboback downpipes but ended up going catless. As for tuning your car, learn from my mistake and be sure to do your homework before you select the tuner. I highly recommend calling the tuner and find out if they are going to support their tune 100% in case something goes wrong.

I would be doing the install myself. I dont see 8-10 hours labor. but i could be wrong.. I have installed a set of kleemann headers on my buddies E55 in less than 7hrs..

if you are doing turbo back pipes, 8-10 hrs is about right... if you are doing downpipes that connect to turbo pipe (bridge pipe) then is just a few hours (i did it myself a few weeks ago on my car)

i did LTH on my e55 and c63 and both took about 8 hrs (c63 was a biitcch with lots of hand scraps lol)

I did just the bridge pipe on mine, and the sound improvements have been phenomenal.

I haven't gotten it on the dyno yet to see what the difference is.
