E63s black badges

Has anyone tried this site before? Reasonably cheap so I'm just wondering if it'll be worth it. I have a diamond white e63 and I would like to remove the chrome letters to matte black.. Thanks

Hi Tony -- I ended up using PlastiDip on mine. Even easier/cheaper than this. They look great, and there's no need to remove and reapply the badging, which is a bit of a pain in the ***.

I did the plastidip thing on my badges as well. Looked OK. Didn't like the chrome, then realized it was the badges I didn't like, so just removed them altogether. It did look good with plastidip, if you're handy with it.

I hear you, well I do want badges, I do not want to plasti dip either. My patients is far too thin to take on that task lol. Where can oem badges be placed for order? Any sites?

Understood. Haven't tried that site before, but looks like a good place to start. Perhaps give your dealership parts dept car as well? Good luck

Not worth it if you get the same result with $7 plastidip and a little time.

How are you plastic dipping the letters and star without removing them. To me $46 to do the whole back trunk lid is a pretty good price.

That's the whole point of plastidip... You don't need to remove anything. Just mask off surrounding area, paint, and peel off what you don't want painted.

Doesn't plastidip peel with time? I have seen quite a few peeling not sure if it is technique sensitive or not

Nah it's pretty good. I plastidipped my emblems on my Lexus a while back and it held up really well.

I struggled a bit with the plastidip process. I've heard others have had great and lasting success. Personally, if I wanted to change badge colors in the future, I'd buy or remove and paint.

But again, some folks have gotten pretty proficient at plastidipping emblems.

Just buy a new set of badges that are OEM and have them painted black. I'm not sure if your trying to go the most cost effective route or the best quality route. Paiting OEM badges is the best way to go as far as quality.

I ordered a set from eBay, it was a us company. They were about 45$ shipped and they
Look great and don't feel cheap. I also tried plastidip before ordering these and I'm probably not the best at DIY either but I've seen it done and they have come out well, just didn't not to fool with it again

getting them painted is the easy part

placing them properly is pretty difficult...filly got them done right on the third try (by a shop)

there isn't a template so it takes a steady hand

but if you really scrutinize the oem lettering, it isn't perfect either
