2014 E63s tire pressure

stock wheels and tires.
I notice the door sticker states 54psi...is that how much I should pump the tires up.
54 seem like a high number, I was thinking 32 34 seen 38 but never 54 is this correct.

I used to run 37 all round. But after replacing and repairing about 4 wheels in one bad year, I am now running 45 all around with no problems. The 50s seem excessive and is reserved for high speeds up to 18Xmph per MB.
Discount tire put all my tires at 51psi recently and I could definitely tell. Dropped it down to 45 and feels like the best compromise.

My TPMS light came on the other day and when I checked mine were all in the mid 30s and then I set those values as defaults. Anything above 40 seems too high to me. I wonder why they want it high?

The information on the B pillar is dictated by NHTSA and other US government agencies and assumes you have your car loaded to the max weight

the gas cap numbers are to help drivers find the tire pressure they should use under normal driving conditions, like when you are not transporting your whole family and trunk full of luggage

an old way to find best tire pressure for your car (your car maybe a few hundred pounds lighter/heavy than another same yr/model car given your weight, your options, how much crap you keep in the trunk, etc….), is to take some white shoe polish and put a stripe of it across bottom of all 4 tires and inflate your tires to recommended psi from gas cap, while tires are cold. Then go drive for a couple of mile (getting tires up to temp) and then stop and check the stripe on the tires. If stripe is wearing away more in the middle then you’re over inflated. If the stripe is wearing faster at the edges then you’re underinflated…. Adjust psi and Keep doing test until you wear the white stripe off at even rate across the tires

Good info! Will take a while but certainly worth it at the end.

I replaced the stock P Zeros with the DWS-06 almost immediately after purchasing my E63. The NVH differences between the two is dramatic. I did not go the DW route because, despite the fact that I will never deliberately drive my E63 in the winter, getting caught in freezing temperatures on a road trip during shoulder seasons could be rather dangerous with the DW's. I have found that the M+S pressures listed on the inside of the fuel cap lid provide a perfect balance between handling and harshness with the DWS-06.

Agreed, the wheel hop in colder weather is annoying closer to winter

Do we have a conclusion as to what is the ideal psi?

There seems to be too many various feedback with wide range.

MB recommends 51psi all around. That’s ludacris.

42psi all around is ideal IMO

42 all around (cold) and I have even tire wear and find the ride compliant even in S+

I am also the only one in the car usually

I think some of this has to do with the tires too. My car came with Hankook Ventrus and they seem best at 38 front ant 41 rear.

And also comes with a heavy dose of "subjective"... for all of us

Ditto.

Daily driver / winter car and I like 42 all around (cold).

Ride is acceptable.

Conti DWS06+ in summer.
Nokian R3 in winter. I blew out a Nokian hitting a pothole at 35 psi (cut the bead!!! and bent the wheel). Lost pressure pretty quickly, and it was surprisingly hard to find. Have never cut the bead before. At least the tires were near new, so just needed to replace the one tire.

Definitely had minor front tire inner wear running lower temps, when I thought the car preferred mid-high 30s like all other vehicles I drove. Bumped up the pressures to 42 psi cold and the car drove better and 'less vague' with the OEM P Zero / Nokian / Conti tires. Wear up front (inner side) became minimal.

For the past 6 years I've run 45 all around. No issues. Even tire wear.

I agree that the higher front pressure helps keep the wear more even.
