Hello E63 wagon!
With that said, the E63 is replacing my 2008 550i as it is nearing 100k miles, big maintenance is coming up, and it was time for something different as I'd had it since new. I will still be keeping my 2003 540i M-Sport, as I just purchased it last year from the original owner with 37k miles. I took a year to find one in that condition. I am a huge e39 fan.
Anyway, I've been into wagons for years and it's frustrating that Americans have turned to the crossover as their vehicle of choice so the amount of wagon offerings here is so limited. Even though I've been a BMW-only guy up until now, I have to commend Mercedes-Benz very much for offering the E63 wagon in the US.
Now to the wagon: it is insanely beautiful. Obviously wagons in general are great (well for those who like them) but there are a select few that have a greatly cohesive design, and this is one of them. I visited a friend in San Francisco yesterday and was able to get this great picture (Alcatraz is on the right). The interior is perfect with the carbon fiber trim and the engine and exhaust sound like a BEAST. I'm in love.
Hello everyone - I'm glad to be here!

However, my original point was that even a base e46 325i felt of high quality and rode well whereas, in my opinion, the same can't be said for the base F30s I've driven.

Yes, it's irritating that the only Audi 'wagon' we get is the Allroad. Agreed on the pano roof, if I had a choice I would go without it, but I have to say that I like how it gives rear seat passengers a sense of openness.

I'm a huge fan of M cars and never thought I'd buy a Mercedes. My previous E90 M3 w/ M/T is probably still my favorite car I've ever owned. However, the new F30s and F10s just have a bit too little character for my taste. I really thought I was going to get a new F30 M3 until I rented one for the weekend. I was actually depressed for days (yes, 1st world problems) because it didn't hit the emotional spots that I expected it to and I had completely set my heart on getting a new M3. At this point, I honestly think that the C63 and E63 are all-around better cars than their M counterparts. (Not passing judgement on the M2 since I haven't driven it yet).
Include me on that... though I'm up in SF and have actually only been to Fremont once ever. I do get to San Mateo/Burlingame quite often.

Looks like you and I have very similar thoughts - we need to meet up.
On a separate note, I was on the freeway next to an S4 Avant tonight and we were both appreciating each others' rides. That's how it should be
Basically: crossovers are the yoga pants of the car world in the US.

I don't care what make it is. Fast wagons need to stick together. hahah
