Those with Tunes Be Careful...My Story with MB
I now have a 2016 E63 AMGs, and last week spoke to the SAME guy who runs service, and he said MB is now getting good at catching onto tunes, and even though the new RENNtech tune has a file for the upgraded tune and the stock tune so you can switch back and forth, they can still detect it - so if anything major happened there’s a chance my extended warranty could be void.
He’s a great guy, and once I replied that I may not get the tune his response was “I once had one on my E63 and it was amazing, very tempting”, I noticed he didn’t offer to purchase it on my behalf. I assume maybe he’s gotten in trouble or something.
Anyway; going in for service next week so will sit and talk to him. If he’ll again put it on an invoice for me I’ll do it, if not, I can’t afford a new motor if anything happens, so I won’t do it.
technically its illegal (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) for dealer to deny your warranty unless they can prove the tune is what caused the problem.... so if you are getting your pano roof replaced under warranty its pretty hard for dealer to say your sunroof is broke because your car is tuned
