New member, purchase advice needed
Hello everyone,
This is my first post here, I've never owned a Mercedes before. I've had BMW's (e46 and e92's 3 series), and Corvettes but never really considered Mercedes before now.
I'm looking for a second car to be used as a daily driver in good weather (have a F150 for the snow and nasty stuff). I started researching the W212 e63's, and have really started to want one. I know the new model will be out sometime in the Spring, but I don't think I want to wait for it. So, I started looking for 2015 and 2016 leftover new e63's and found a couple local to me in the Denver area.
The first is a 2015 with 151 miles on it that it still new, been sitting on the lot for a while. MSRP is $116,015 and it's Obsidian Black on black interior. The dealer price is $97,815. That's 18 grand off sticker, but it's two model years old already.
The second is a 2016 with 14 miles on it, still new. MSRP is $107,315 and the dealer price is $97,104, so not as much off sticker, but one model year newer. It's black on black interior. Also fewer options than the 2015.
Which should I buy if I were choosing from these two? Would there by any issues I should look out for with buying the 2015? Also, is there a difference between "Obsidian Black" and "Black"? Or are they one and the same.
Thanks!

In general you shouldn't have an issues with either since they would be under warranty. What matters is what options your want. The 15 sounds well equipped over the 16. My sticker was over 120 but had all options I wanted.
What are options of each one?

I haven't got the exact options yet, since I just inquired today about them. The salesman at the dealer just sent the basic specs and the prices. I'll ask him for the window sticker for each car.
The only thing I can determine from the pics is the 2015 has the Bang and Olufsen sound system while the 2016 has the standard Harmon Kardon.

Looks like the 2015 also has the interior carbon fiber package, which is a nice touch.
Even though the Bang And Olufsen system looks nice, its not my preference and lacks punch.
For me, I would go with the 2016 because I think the titanium wheels look better, and the 2016 will likely hold its value better long term (slightly).

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
Welcome. Same here, I would go with the 2016 since you will get more value for it in the future due to it being newer. If you plan to keep it long term, then it probably makes no difference.

In the long term the added options will make it easier to sell and sell faster. They both look the same IMO
I would take the 2015 with more options the wheels from the 2016.

I would go with the 2016 because the Comand system received significant upgrades for 2016. I had a 2014 E550 and I can tell you that the Comand updates are very desirable vs the Comand on the pre-16 models. You are getting the most developed version of the W212 if you buy the 2016.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I really appreciate it. I believe I will either go with that 2016 or maybe find another 2016 that has a few more options.
I'm looking forward to it...I'm assuming I won't regret the purchase?

you will love the car , it is a matter now of finding the car at the right price. I think both cars should be discounted more
10 k off 2016
20 k off 2015 is not enough
look all around and try to find a better deal or talk to your dealer and these prices could be

You've seen the Bang system, but for what they charge, totally not worth it.
Carbon fiber exterior is nice, but aftermarket is just as nice and very easy to do yourself.
The only option that really stands out if you can find one, is the carbon ceramic brakes. They are orange/gold calipers instead of the red. Not only the best performance, but no brake dust.

Isn't the 2017 E63 coming out next year? And it's a newer platform too, W213.
Not sure if you can do European delivery on an AMG, normally you get 7-9% off MSRP.
