What hitch set-up are you using? How much can the Wagon tow?

I'm using this tow hitch:
https://stealthhitches.com/products/...~ly_wagon-w212

It's rather pricey, but I didn't want the hitch to be visible 100% of the time.

I'm in the USA, so the wagon isn't rate to tow at all, while the Euro versions are said to be rated at ~4800lbs. Thankfully, none of my other cars weigh more than 2800lbs, so I'll never exceed the E63S curb weight with this trailer.

Just here to follow along

I’ve started reading this thread, some good info.
im targeting the e63 wagon as my next car.

has anyone had any luck with a third party warranty on these in the last year? If so who have you used for the warranty and what did it cost

Angryscotsman,
Could you share pics of what trimming might have been needed on the rear splitter? I checked out the install instructions but would be interested in seeing the AMG specific instead of e350 rear bumper cover mods.

I paid $3900 for a 3yr/36mo warranty from fidelity in Aug 2018 on a 2014 e63 sedan with 27k miles. It was renntech tuned and lowered so the dealer couldn't/wouldn't CPO it.
I can't speak for how good the warranty service was as I only had the car 4 months before finding a CPO wagon.

------------------
In January 2019 I paid $4,600 for 4 yr 48,000 Select Care plan from Century Warranty Services with $250 deductible.
This applies to my 2013 E63 Wagon with 52,000 miles.

How heavy is that car? What class hitch? I want to tow a 2,800 car with mine I guess I should just go for it?

No release to tow with our AMG's in Germany at all. Max is a bike rack on your hitch.
Was told by MB cooling isn't sufficient for towing.

I could t find any 3rd party vendor who would warranty my 2016 estate. They steer clear of AMG. I ended up purchasing additional MB warranty.

I recently purchased fidelity warranty (the most coverage they offered) with a friends and family discount three months ago for a new to me '13 63 wagon with 42k. Its exclusionary, fives years from my purchase of the warranty and for an additional 72k or 75k miles. 6150ish and I pay by the month with the maximum time of credit of two years. I can pay it off as quick as I like, as slow as two years and can get a pro-rated refund or transfer it to the next owner.

I purchased as a piece of mind and have had a positive benefit to every warranty I have ever purchased for a German car. I am a very proactive maintainer and drive my cars hard so it works for me, generally.

It's the same. It's hardly noticeable the trimming you have to do, especially if you're careful and detailed about it. Whenever I move into a newer wagon and remove the hitch, you won't be able to tell the diffuser was cut unless you crawled on your back and looked.

I finally joined the club and bought a 2016 Wagon! This has been a long time coming. I can't thank the members enough on this forum for their guidance. I patiently waited for the right one to come along. Here are the specs:

2016 1 owner with 44K
CPO until 8/23, unlimited miles
Designo Diamond White
Options:
995 AMG Parking Assist Package: Surround View Camera System $800 501 Surround View Camera
P44 Parking Package (RVC &Parktronic)
997 Driver Assistance Package: DISTRONIC PLUS® with Steering Assist $2,800
513 Speed Limit Assist
300 PRE-SAFE Brake
271 PRE-SAFE PLUS
269 Badging on Dashboard
268 BAS PLUS w/Cross-Traffic Assist
266 DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist 253 CMS Rear
238 Active Lane Keeping Assist
237 Active Blind Spot Assist
233 DISTRONIC PLUS (with PRE-SAFE Brake) 23P Driver Assistance Package
H73 Carbon Fiber Trim $2,850 P60 AMG Exterior Night Styling $750 U70 Red Brake Calipers
Y04 Safety Belts in Silver
Y41 designo Black DINAMICA Headliner
752 19-Inch AMG 10-Spoke Wheels - Black $500
811 Bang & Olufsen Sound w/red. trunk space $5,400
839 Laminated Acoustic Glass, Front & Rear Doors (SPC) $300
864 Rear-Seat Entertainment System $1,910
872 Heated Rear Seats $625

For me the 2016 model year was a big deal because of the (semi) updated Comand system. The forum members recommended Jeff Jackson for extending my CPO past 8/21 and he came in lower than Keenan Mercedes. That being said, Paul Ahr, Keenan MB salesman, was fantastic. Keenan was also great from the CPO standpoint. They replaced one of the wheels and refinished the remaining three. They also resprayed the front and rear bumpers due to minor scratches. 4 wheel alignment, new brakes and rotors etc. This car was purchased sight unseen and they delivered from a service standpoint.

While the W213 is enticing, I prefer to wait 3 years after the introduction of a new model before buying. Manufactures tend to iron out the issues after that time. This car puts a huge smile on my face. Now I just need to find the right aftermarket head up display and I am set.

In 2016 they updated the Comand interface by improving the graphics/menu display compared to previous years. Gives the car a fresher look plus I can have Apple CarPlay. The other reason was to have as long as possible factory warranty/CPO.

Was the transmission a factor?

My understanding is that the transmission shifts times were improved in 2015. Perhaps other members could chime in.

Same for my 2016. Congrats on the wagon, looks great. Hope to see it around if you're in the Denver area. Just saw another black one yesterday, we have a disproportionate share here.

ColordaoJordan - welcome!

Great choice!

Super cool with B&O in the wagon - that is rare....

Do you mind taking a picture of your spare wheel bay (where the B&O subwoofer lives - I think?)
