E63 AMG 2016 - rear differential fluid change

So I am about 100 days late for my A service (ok, well, have been busy) and finally brought it in and the dealer tells me I have to change rear differential fluid at 2000 miles (I have 7000-something right now) - for $200.

Am I being taken for a ride here?

Check your service manual - it's a required maintenance.

Diff Change

I decided to do mine at 30,000 (2012 E63) knowing that it was done at 5,000. I avoided the dealer and found a local shop who used MBZ fluid and they only charged me $189. I had them provide a fluid sample from the diff when they changed it, I think it looked good, but boy did it smell! Taste wasn't bad.

All rear end oil stinks. If anyone knows of one that does not stink please post the brand here.

I did mine at 3,000km and it cost $200 @ MB . It is a requirement (was on the windshield sticker and page 136 in the owner manual) and then every 50K km (31K miles) after that.

no MBs at the moment :(
Yup required for my 2016 E63 as well. It's in the manual... and it cost somewhere between $200-300 in San Francisco.
