Thats one of the many reasons why I got the E63. The good gas mileage considering the high performance. I drive alot of highway miles each day.
My previous C63 and CTS-V were just horrible.

I've been able to get a hair under 32 mpg on an '12 E350. 29-30 mpg on a longer highway ride isn't unusual at all. Not surprised the AMG is capable of good fuel economy.
I recently drove a 2016 Toyota RAV 4 275 miles and my E350 gets better milage and has a much larger fuel tank. The RAV 4 though is just fine on regular gas.

It should be easy to get 26 mpg hwy especially for M157 driven RWD version. EPA has listed RWD M157 to be 2 mpg higher than AWD version. Heck, I have the 6.2L M156 and even I managed to get 23 mpg hwy on more than one occasion.

2012 E63 AMG Estate
Drove from Canberra to Sydney over the holiday period. Computer read as 8.5L per 100km, which equates to approx. 27.5mpg. Very impressed. This was 110km/h = 68-70mph.
