My 2014 E63s

Hey guys I joined a few months ago but never posted,I bought this car in June CPO color is Diamond white with night style package 20k miles ,I just wanted to share some pics of my car and have some questions.

The tires I have on the car are used but still have decent thread there Bridgestone RE50 they feel like Im riding on a cheese grater, I'm hoping it's just the tires looking for a slightly smoother ride , I have a 2015 535 xi with 19s and run flats and you can feel a noticeable difference in smoothness ,
i was thinking Contis DWS06 ultra all season or should I stick with a better summer you can recommend?

I have also been looking at wheels not to sure what style but my brand choice is down to Vorsteiner or HRE , Does anyone have experience with theses wheels?

Whats the widest wheels I can go without issues ?
Of course I like the rims sitting on edge, do I need spacers and what size? just looking for the proper combination for 19 or I'm thinking about 20inch wheels also,

My CPO came with new Pirelli P ZEROs. They have been great and look really good too. I'll probably get a new set whenever its time to replace.

Thanks , I appreciate it!

i was leaning towards the DWS 06 myself , because the wear rating is 550 vs 150 , I was worried about grip but then again I'm not going to track the car, but I also like to hear other people's opinions , some people say there is no between, either summer or winter tires

The PZero's on my '14 E63s ride pretty rough... I've never had a good experience with Pirellis... I put DWS06 on my '16 GL63 and they are pretty amazing - especially now in the sub 20 degree weather with snow and ice. I will likely replace the PZero's with DWS06 this spring on the E63s.

Yeah the dws are great in cold and warm ... the p zero was loud but handled amazing ... the dws handle very well but I never pushed them like I did the pirelli

I've had my 2015 e63 a for three months now and as part of the Cpo process they required putting on the pirelli Pzeros and would not Cpo the car with Michelin pilot sports which was my preference. The pirellis are really rough riding, perhaps because I live downtown chicago and the streets are horrible, but by comparison I have continental dws tires on my c32 Amg (daily driver during bad weather) and the rise is super smooth and you don't feel the rough ride at all. Obviously the conti dws tires are not summer performance grade like the p-zeroes but I am surprised at how rough the p-zeroes are even compared to the michelins. This probably is not a fair comparison since these tires are compared based on 2 very different vehicles I'm driving them in (2003 c32 and 2015 e63)

But for sure the conti dws tires are solid in winter for sure and decent in summer so a good overall compromise if you don't want to deal with 2 sets of tires and rims (although not anywhere close to performance of Michelin pilot sports in summer driving which i will switch to once these p-zeroes are gone)

Thanks for feedback, I think I will try the DWS06 , I heard nothing but good things now. Plus the wear rating is triple compared to the Bridgestone's I have now , I do know that the wear rating of a tire is cut in half due to staggered figment , The only thing I don't know is I have tire and rim road hazard warranty insurance from MB I'm hoping I can change brand tire to be insured ? Thanks again!

If you are purchasing a set at your MB dealer, make sure they apply the $150 discount during the promo period. I believe it ends 01/16.

Thanks for the heads up! I did get a quote and they did apply the discount for $1200 installed with a 2 year road hazard warranty, the tire guy printed the estimate for me but I noticed something strange the fronts where Continental DWS06 and the Rears were Continental DWS , I know the DWS are the old models ,The DWS06 are a much better tire according to tire rack, I think he was trying to get me , I still have to confront him about that.

Yeah, you definitely should have had new tires if you purchased a CPO from Mercedes. I don't think they can get around that, unless they were slightly used (like 500 miles or less). You shouldn't have to replace new tires in your first year of ownership, unless you exceeded the tire mile wear of course. How may miles did the car have at purchase and how many now?

I live in FL so I have no experience with all season tires thankfully.

I used to be a slave to Michellin Super Sports. They started to impress me less over the years, because they were always super quiet the first 3 months or so, then extremely loud after that. Although, I really think all tires are like that. You think they are so quiet when you put them on, but as soon as that soft gummy layer wears off, its loud again.

I know the tires weren't brand new but close to it , I guess they met up to the requirements , I did notice when I put the low dust pads on that my front tires are worn more than the rears , they will be good for now until I get the DWS06 installed, I think performance for the street they will be fine ,
but for track you need a good track or summer tire. Thanks for your response

You mentioned 20" wheels earlier in your post... still thinking of that? Also can you get a staggered set up on the 2014? Just curious....
