2016 E63S Clicking Sound - Help!!!!
#76
Looks like everyone above mentions something about it being a clicking, only on first few miles, sound under the car usually 30-40mph.
Maybe Rear driveshaft ticking during first few miles/when cold between 30-40mph?

The driveshaft is set using a measuring device, if it is out of spec, you use shims to correct it. You also have to increase the bolt length if you go above 2MM thick shims.
The driveshaft is measure at 3 points, trans side, diff and support bearing. If support bearing angle of the shaft is out of spec, shims can be used to get it into spec.

I'm looking at the WIS, my understanding is the difference between the forward and rear portions of the driveshaft should be .1 to ,4 degrees, correct? Didn't see the pinon angle in there, what's that supposed to be? I didn't see how that is adjusted anyway.
I remember the bolts being like ~25-30mm long. I can't image the welded nuts on there other side being more then 10mm or so.
What bolts do you use on their place?

Holy crap, this has been driving me crazy though more because I just thought something was vibrating in resonance under the car. It must be this issue. I will go grab some washers. What's the diameter of the bolt? I also need to do my flex couplers so I am hoping to get rid of some NVH with this repair. I'll report back.

The bolt is 8mm (E12 socket). What you want is an 8mm stainless fender washer. My local Ace was out of 8mm so I grabbed two 10mm. I did this at the same time as replacing the front and rear flex coupler. But NVH does seem reduced to what I assume is just pure tire noise now, so I'm happy. I do have some comments about the rear flex coupler but I guess I won't get into it in this thread since it is about the shims for the center support.

I just bought a E63 and I’m hearing this only while the car is cold although I did get extended warranty. Do you think it will be covered or it’s just a warn out part that needs to be replaced? And what does TSB mean?
