AMG SpeedShift MCT: Sport+ or Manual setting when not feeling lazy?

...which hopefully is most of the time. My SMG III is always in S5 (manual mode with hard shifts). The auto modes are not an option.

In an AT7, I am wondering what people prefer when in the mood to go fast.

I love sport+. manual has too much delay between pulling the paddle and actual shift occurring.

Manual mode seems terrible with the paddle lag. I usually compromise and use sport because s+ keeps it in a pretty low gear for normal driving.

yea for normal driving S is the best but here I think he's asking best mode for fastest acceleration which is s+.

Holding the downshift paddle for a few seconds to get into optimal gear (say in a rolling start) is also a great feature when used together in s+ mode.

I never drive in Manual mode on the MCT, bc it sucks. Always S+

Fair enough - if I'm going to beat on the car then S+. I guess I'm just almost always feeling lazy though

There is something to be said for those Tesla 1 speeds...seriously. Look at all this talk we have to decide which fancy setting to use.

I'm mostly in manual. I actually prefer it while I'm just cruising around town. Something about being able to shift when I want.

That said, if I'm spirited I'll go to s+. I'll still do M and predict shifts sometimes too.

Everyone hates the time it takes from telling the car to shift to it shifting, but I've just gotten used to it. Would I prefer it if it were quicker like a dct/pdk? Of course, but it is what it is.

They are? The car that can do 204 mi/h in 7th gear, stock, with just the speed limiter defeated?

How many stock sedans (delimited) can break 195 mi/h?

I'm having a hard time believing that. Maybe on paper but I'm skeptical about a bone stock E60 M5 doing 205mph in the real world.

Its true, they are able to do 200mph delimited, the s85 motor is all top end. It was my dream car for a number of years until I realized how finicky that car truly is.

I really have no reason not to believe you. I did get to spend a week behind the wheel of one and raced several modded ones in my modded E55 and I was never impressed like I expected. Even on freeway pulls to over 150 they still couldn't hang with my 55 so I quit believing all the top end hype. It sounds like they would have eventually caught back up if we kept going...

If you were well ahead by 150 i dont think they are catching up to you...

I think stock ones trap around 115-116 and modded ones up to 120-122 from what i remember. At lower speeds they are dogs with no torque.

I'm soooo gonna try this. I'm almost excited tbh...

By doing this, when i let go of the brake and hit the accelerator, I won't have that annoying slow engagement n slow roll n then WOT? I want it to be like bham and either spin the tyres or grip n go, depending on how much I put down etc
