You can definitely let your Insurance take care of the damages first, and let the Insurance company get the $$ back from the other party/Insurance carrier. Do you carry Uninsured motorist Insurance? I do and this is the reason for it, if the other guy's insurance lapses. In CA all drivers must carry liability Insurance, otherwise you get a ticket and 1 point on your record when you are caught by the police.

 

I think the problem is he will need to pay the deductible if his own insurance takes care of the car even when he is not at fault.

 

Guys, please stop showing me crash photos, I am getting queasy seeing all those lovely cars with damage.

Glad you are OK. If there IS insurance and there is no allowance for diminished value, your back might start hurting!

Kidding! But this is a terrible system where the uninsured get off with a warning and we still have to buy Underinsured/Uninsured motorist coverage and they get to drive around with suspended licenses and no state plan for liability from these slackers.

All repaired...$17k damage and took 6 weeks. Overall they did an excellent job. I did need them to realign the spacing a bit on the trunk.

Pics look good - how is the paint match in person? Can you file for diminished value as well?

The Carfax ding will knock down the value at least $3-$5k.

update on mine: carbon fiber diffuser will be here tomorrow, new oem bumper and other parts will be here sometime next week i suppose. then ill be taking the bumper cover to be painted

As long as it took, I finally got this fixed. New bumper cover, and new impact bar along with some carbon

Haven't washed the car in almost two months, so I'll get better pics later.
