W212 & W218 both have M157 Engine. How come this fits W212 but doesn't fit W218?

AIR INTAKE
quite a nice set up compared to oem crap that mb designed, have the same situation occurring even with all the care i do take in removing the air intakes
the fabric just does not allow much flexing with out pulling apart the fabric. please instruct me with the parts that were used in your construction
design.
a picture of your set up with arrows pin pointing to each item with description and where to purchase part would be greatly appreciated.
thanks bro

I drove for a month in October without the ducts. No perceptible difference in performance. With ambient temps dropping and ram effect, it will matter even less. I am sure that I would not set a M157 record without 'colder' air, but the IAT rise is negligible. Agree with the sentiment. Poor longevity of the fabric air ducts. Get new OEM ones for around $100. Will last you another 5 years. I am working to fit DIY aftermarket 2-ply fiberglass and silicone duct because I have nothing better to do.

I tried this and it melted
Apparently this is the solution (Spectre Performance 8741 Black 3" Air Duct Hose):

Just ordered a couple for myself.

Why not just stop being cheap asses and treat your Benz to the OEM it deserves?

You could also just order the MB intakes from FCP Euro and use their lifetime warranty to do a free return/exchange for new intakes anytime they tear!!! Love FCP have used their lifetime warranty many times for pads, rotors, plugs, belts and they stand behind the lifetime warranty!

I did the same piping. It's a standard 3" or 76mm flex hose you find on the internet.
I paid 13.- for 3'.
It's a bit hard to install. You have to cut off the old glue and warm the flanges of the plastic ends to slip the new hose over.
Looks good though. I'm happy with it.
I also filled the gaps with Sika to get a good bond.

Not sure if it performs better than stock or plastic option but def looks better.

So I found the carbon fiber one. 11.25" long, 45* and 3" diameter. I will give this a try myself and report back.

Made my own using 3" silicone couplers and spectre 22° aluminum pipe. Length was good and no need to cut. Sprayed with high temp paint. Cost was about 80$ including SS clamps. Hardest part was removing the glue from the oem pipe that attaches to the inlet. Goo Gone, a flat head screwdriver to scrape the glue off and patience
