Air intake Inlet pipe M157

I can't believe MB cheaps out on **** like this. It's made out of some terrible fabric. It rips easily, and even worse than that little pieces/crumbs of it get sucked into the air boxes and get trapped in the filter.

Anyone have any good replacement for these? Thinking about just cutting that crap out and replacing with flexible plastic 3" piping.

2017 W222 AMG S63 Sedan.
Had both the left and right side replaced under warranty within the last 6 months. Sucks that it is a common thing on a 110k+ car.

If you ever change your air filters, which you should every other oil change... it will happen.

All it takes is one careless tech, getting it snagged, or a combination of heat and other environmental factors to deteriorate the glued wrap and it's game over. Hopefully you'll find it only beginning to fail and not after it's completely sucked into your air box blocking air flow.

2017 W222 AMG S63 Sedan.
Just looked at my little sister's W213 2017 E300 and looks like Mercedes took notice because this looks allot more sturdy than the W212s.

I think it's gotta be more expensive to use cloth/wire than cheap plastic --- there's gotta be some advantage to the fabric intakes

Yeah that's my plan, and to wrap it with JEGGS reflective heat wrap.

Here they are installed. You can either re-use the stock inlet connectors (Shown on top) or use the ones provided with the plastic pipes (shown on bottom). I've done both and like the above.
