006 Press Car Code
I'm looking at a '14 e63 that has '006 Press Car Code' on the monroney. It's listed as going into service in 11/2013, but the Carfax shows the first sale at 10k mikes in early 2015. The dealer says it was probably a Mercedes executive car.
Has anyone seen this before? Was this actually a press car? The car now has 40k miles on it, and the Carfax doesn't seem to be riddled with multiple service visits (indicating to me it didn't seem to have a ton of issues over the last two years).
Thanks!

nothing to worry about - my 08 wagon was the press car - coolest part was that i had the motor trend article with the pics of the car in there - you will see a few changes to title before it ends up in first owners possession.
ill try find what was shared with me - another member found out and let me know by VIN it was the press car.

Yeah, Mercedes wouldn't give me any more info on the history of the car. They said I had to ask the dealer. The dealer is simply speculating it was an executive car. I'll probably pass.

You should ask for a VMI from the dealer, it will give you a lot of information on the car. If it was an executive car then it would probably show up as a corporate vehicle on the carfax and not personal. The first owner on my cls63 was corporate and for over 2 years but it was not a press car.

To the OP, if you have a copy of the window sticker, check the delivery destination. The tip off to me was that my car was delivered to COTA.
Back to ADA cars, sure you should have some extra scrutiny, but bear in mind the different evolutions the vehicles go through and the daily maintenance they get from the AMG techs. The C63 has been used for drifting, and the E/CLS 63s have been used for start/stop box drills (drag racing and braking), CLA for autcross etc. One could argue certain evolutions are harder on a car than others.
I did the ADA last year and asked the technical director if I could get a service history on my car, but he said they were not able to provide that. He did however detail for me the daily maintenance items and the pre-auction work done, like new rotors, pads, tires, alignment, etc that are done to the car.
Therefore, be prudent, but don't necessarily be scared off - especially if a CPO warranty comes with it, as mine did. I got a 3300 mile car in near mint condition (only a couple minor chips), with a CPO for 1/3 off MSRP and, to me, that more than compensated for it's "checkered" history.
