C63 507 AMG DA Car #19
bought an ex AMG Driving Ac Car
I believe I bought car # 19 C63 507 matte with polished wheels.......
https://amgacademy.com/gallery/photo...americas-may-2
Funny thing we attended this May 2, 2015 DA event, and may have driven the car I eventually bought used.
The car was never sold or titled, and delivery listed as Laguna Seca, AND COTA on the stickers.
I can see the ghost stickers from all the AMG DA stickers.
From spending too much time zooming into these high res pics, my car has the same small black blem on the right side bumper as car #19, and you can see the slight mis-match of the front bumper in my pic and the cota pic.
I spent a whole day cleaning the under carriage of this car after I brought it home, it was loaded with race track rubber all in the wheels wells, and the underbody.
Does anyone know who I could contact @ AMG DA to verify my vin was car #19?
Here is my car after I took delivery last month:
Notice the slight color change from the front bumper to fender.
Notice the small black mark under the left front valence, just in front of the tire.
Here is car #19 @ COTA.... notice the slight color change in the front bumper, and the same little black blem...... (same car?)

Wow, looks like the same car, congrats ! You must be a brave man to buy ADA car. I thought they never title or allow to sell these cars as they're abused a lot during the events. Hope you got a great deal.

I'm Cpo + factory warranty + ext mb warranty and good price. 3300 miles. according to the mb dealership they assured me it was not an Amg ac car even after I quizzed them on it.
I knew it was once I saw the dest was Laguna seca and Cota and all the other details.
So you guys think it's the same car? In the right light you can see the da decal ghost marks. I'll check today if I can spot the 19 on the bumper that would nail it down.
If anyone has any connections at Amg da I'd like to verify the vin with them for my records.
I've tried reaching out to MB USA but my request has languished. Perhaps they are waiting until after the holidays to look into it.
Thx.

Just sent Ada a query::::: We'll see what they say. Cheers.
"I recently purchased a cpo 2014 matte silver c63 507 Ed from mb of n Houston, and I believe it to be Ada car 19.
Can I contact someone with Ada to verify vin?
I believe it is an Ada car:
1. Still has the ghost images of all the Ada stickers in the matte paint.
2. Window sticker dest reads Laguna seca and cota.
3. Car was never sold until my purchase w 3300 miles as cpo.
4. By looking at the May 5 cota Ada pics (I attended) I can spot the same blems in the paint work.
I look forward to talking to someone about this car. I want to doc the racing heritage for my records.
We will att Ada at cota again in 2016. I'll bring car '19'."

Actually, that's pretty ****ty that the dealer said it wasn't a DA car, when clearly it was. Are they allowed to do that - i.e. straight up lie?
Gorgeous car by the way.
Since it was a DA car, does that mean it has the upgraded 440 cooling package I wonder..... I think they all got it, especially in the South.

Part of me thinks it's cool to have a Ada car. However I'm keeping all documentation including the pics etc should this motor let go prematurely. I suspect I would have a solid case for a warranty repair and/or whatever addl action necessary for a resolution.
Lmk what is inc w the cooling pkg. there is a radiator in front of the Psgr front tire.

If dealer lied to you and you can prove that to Mb, id go back and ask for a $10k refund or threaten legal action. For one thing your paint isn't even good due to the ghosting from the decals. You are likely to take a serious hit on resale if future buyers do their research. This thread doesn't help your cause

I asked about these academy cars popping up for sale over on the private Lounge because a month or two ago there were suddenly several 507 coupes around the country that had never been titled .
Several people posted they asked the academy at their training what happens to these and they were told they get crushed can't be resold because of liability etc etc there really just seems to be no consensus and my guess is the dealer didn't lie they probably had no idea they likely just bought it from mbusa at auction or from inventory up for cpo grabs

I call bullsht. The dealer didn't know and can't tell? Are you kidding me?
They know EXACTLY where all their cars come from. And that paint damage from the stickers is not subtle.
Unbelievable that MB would try to pass these off as new never titled cars.

MB North, Houston Texas.
I asked about this specifically upon the purchase, and he assured me this was NOT a ADA car.
I've started "the process".
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, at this time..... as they probably just did not notice: the ADA imprints in the paint, the fact the delivery paperwork says COTA/LSeca, and the wheels wells/undercarriage and rear muffs were still covered in rubber. An easy oversight for a dealership. I presume. Although MB of SL noticed this right away when I brought it in for service.
So It appears I have ADA car #19.
ADA responded back to my inquiry this AM, suggesting that I contact the dealer of sale. They would not provide any information on a prior ADA car.
I'll be taking this to MB corporate next week as well and Auto-nation the mother ship to the dealer.
I could not make the paint images out in the direct sunlight upon sale.
Cheers gents.
Good points below......

I'll dig into this and see what shakes-loose. Thx MBW.

I agree completely, not to mention they could have said that they are not sure and will look into it, but to clearly say no is a straight up lie.
Awesome car, too bad about the paint. Nice detective work!

Yeah they should have said they don't know if they weren't sure so the salesman either lied or is ignorant. But it's always surprising how little sales people know and they know even less about amg in some cases

If they refunded you a good chunk of money, or extended your warranty for free to 7-10 years / 100k, it would make for a good deal. Don't do it now, but I'd contact an auto detailing place to see if they can buff out the ghosting. They may be able to.

Wow! So many emotions as I'm reading this.
I just cant buy the crushing idea. Millions of dollars wasted that way.
I think you have a case. At best may be they take the car back and refund you.
I don't feel right about long term warranty. Id rather settle now.
There is something special about this car, but not enough for me personally.
Good luck. Don't put too much info in here until you are done.

great story, i always wondered what happens to those cars as well. now we all know.
another reason why you shouldnt believe everything the dealer says. those cars are driven hard and without care by a lot of people. i would bring it back in a heartbeat. goodluck and hope things turn out on your favor.

Really guys?
Hope this doesn't ruin future sales of academy cars because in the long run they will hold more value than 'normal 507' (reference Hertz Shelby GT's both old and newer models)
As long as the car is in overall good shape for the price and you can obtain documentation that it was used there, I think it is an awesome purchase
