Since this platform can't compete with tuned RS or M cars, this is all I have left to brag about...
Muxture of city and 80 miles highway with cruise set to 70.

But, yes ac was on the whole trip and the gf was with me. I'm tuned and downpipes and have never paid much attention to mpgs so I didn't expect this. This is actually the first time I've had the patience to have the cruise control on most of the trip.

the tt rs was just because someone asked about 9 sec RS cars

For my reference....is this because of the MCT transmission and that annoying delay before the car moves forward when you come off the brakes? Or is it just that it doesn't make enough peak power up top to compete?

1. Throttle tip in delay
2. Torque limits in Lower gears (not related with #1)
3. Awd parasitic losses on highway runs

You're not cruising down the mountain in neutral, are you?! LOL. That's 5.5TT, right?

Not at all. I typically do a 65/35 mix of highway to city driving but I'm always in the throttle. 70mph is a crawl to me and I average just under 18mpg. So when I got off the freeway after having it on cruise control for over an hour I was curious...then I was shocked. And yes, it's a 5.5TT with EC tune and downpipes.

Check out mine. Similar number with the left pic at 29 mpg...but keep in mind it's from a stock M156. Yup, naturally aspirated 6.2L!

Wow that's amazing ^
it's quite funny...of all my cars...E39 M5, W124 E320 cabrio, 2.0l stroker Celica, E63 6.2l.....the 6.2l V8 is the most economical

Sorry, folks! I've cheated! The pic on the left was from coming down the mountain and the car was mostly in neutral. That was how the thought came to mind when I saw the post.
However, the pic on the right was legit. It was pretty much all highway miles and showed remarkable feats that modern engines are capable of. Of course, we all know elevation and wind direction should all be taken into consideration. The ideal place would be a salt flat on a windless day.
The OP's numbers are really impressive and show what forced induction can do. Unfortunately, I just can't bring myself to let go of large displacement, naturally aspirated engines.

All I got from this thread is that there are a bunch of forum members who paid a whole lot of extra money for an AMG model that they are not driving properly.

What you should have gotten is that even when we drive it properly, we still get spanked by Audis and BMWs...
