I have seriously considered and at some point may end up buying a Tesla. If I do it's going to cost me double what I paid for my E63 which I bought brand new (a year old but brand new). Maybe you're able to get them cheaper in the US?
I also considered a GTR much cheaper to make really really fast but the road noise, rough ride, and interior creaks turned me away. The new 2017 ones are apparently much better for NVH. With any decision on cars or anything else in life there will be trade-offs and we have to decide what is most important.
If getting into the nines is the goal the E63 is not the wise way to do it. I trapped 139.45 on Sunday (DA 4700+, no race gas, pump gas + methanol), trapping faster than most of the bracket racers who were there thay day, and day after tomorrow I plan to take my 3 cousins and 5yr old son on a 4 day trip to the mountains with car seat and all our luggage in the same car, no wind noise, minimal tire noise, excellent on windy roads. If I cut the trip short I could join a nonprepped 1/4 race in Vegreville in the way back and possibly beat everyone there. If some 1000hp porsche beats me, good for him. My cousin who is visiting me from overseas prefers my E63 Mercedes to his dad's Porsche because by virtue of his age he is always relegated to the back seat.
My car has lost to 3rd generation Firebird running mid nines with a parachute at the back. Anyone can say that car is better than mine because it did the quarter mile quicker. I like that I can put my car in rest mode in the winter and have the cabin interior maintain is temperature in 30 below weather when I leave it in the parking lot.
if you want a car to do everything its going to get expensive and will still never be number 1 at everything. With a Tesla on the street you'll probably never lose a race off the light ever. And you can seat up to seven people. And u keep the warranty. There will be other downsides. In the end it's trade-offs and priorities that guide a decision.
Sorry man. But electric cars are soulless ! Never catch me owning one. And I live about 20 minutes away from the Tesla plant. Have friends working there. They are all over the place here in the Silicon Valley. Boring to say the least. I will take my E63 over a Tesla all day even if it can beat me by 1/2 second in the 1/4. Just my humble opinion.
This might be the fastest wagon in the world, has anybody gone faster add around 160. 165 It appears to hit a wall but keeps pulling not quite as strong
