Considering 2011 e63 - pitfalls?
Hello All,
I am considering purchasing a low mileage 2011 e63. This would be my first MB but I have long admired it and am looking forward to owning it. Question is - what are the common problems for this model year/things that I need to look out for?

Well it's pretty common that the head bolts come up in discussion pretty frequently. They didn't fix that til some time later in the 2011 production run so you have to check the engine serial number to see if it's past the safe point or not. Then you're looking at 25k+ for a blown engine. Or fix it in advance with new head bolts for 1-2k. Airmatic also comes to mind but it's not as bad or as frequent. Everything about the car is expensive though, brakes can be 3-4k at the dealer but if you DIY and get either cheap rotors from the C63 or pads, then it can be under 1k.

I have had my 2011 for over 3 years. Very happy. However, do check the car's engine ser. no. for the head bolt problem. Mine does not have it. Brake rotors are expensive. If the cost of maintenance and repairs over 1000.00 scares you then do not purchase a Mercedes AMG of any kind.
