Tire Options

Sorry, might be a newbie question here but I am about to pull the trigger on a 2014 E63S and was looking at the TireRack site for tire options and looking to go 20" but they do not show me any options. Is it not recommended to go to 20" wheels, what size tires have people gone with? Also, they do not have a large variety of tire options, what replacement tires are everyone running or just stick with OE.

My choice is 265/35/19 front, 295/30/19 rear but many prefer 20s and drop the aspect ration down to 30 and 25 respectively. Stock is 255/35/19 and 285/30/19.

I just put tires on about three weeks ago. Pilot Sport A/S 3+, got them for <$1000 all in at Costco.

Michelin is supposed to be releasing the new PS4S in our OEM sizes in the spring time. I am waiting until then, but I probably have another 6-7K left on the stock P Zeros.

The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires are really good. I have them on my E350 and the E63. They stick out slightly around the rim and provide a protection from curbs.

I really like my A/S 3's... they provide reasonable grip off the line and handle really really well in the twisties.

I just put some Continental Extreme Contact Sport in stock sizes on and am very pleased. But I live in Texas so I can get away with summer tires all year long.

no MBs at the moment :(
I’ve been faithfully using TireRack.com for the past 15 years, but for my last set of tires for my E63, DiscountTireDirect.com was $200 cheaper after including tax and shipping to CA for the exact same max performance tire.

it might be worth taking a look there.

absolutly love those tires. They are what I have and they happend to be the lightest tires. Beating others by a 7lb difference. Think about how much we spend to save on unsprung weight. We spend thousands to save 3-6 pounds. Some people don’t realize the weight of the tire has the most impact . Tire rides smooth and grips really well. I’m using 275/30/20 conti spirt contact DW

Hey Anotherone where did you here they were coming out? I am in bad need of new tires but holding out for PS4's so I called Michelin the rep I talked to couldn't find anything about 285/30/19 coming out he mentioned a few other sizes that were going to be coming out soon but not our rears. Sucks I really wanted these tires but my fronts are really worn need to get tires soon.

This is a response I received yesterday from signes with regard to the rear size options in the PS4:

"Best tire for use (and most of us honestly) is the Michelin Pilot Super Sport 4S. Probably the best all around performance tire out there. They come in 255/35/19 for fronts but rears you will need to do 295/30 (best) or 285/35."

I did the online chat with a Tire Rack rep confirmed that they are coming. I thought I posted it somewhere but it’s either March or May.
