Remote Start Units?
Looking for a remote start unit for my 2013 E63 with Keyless Go. (It was 1 degree outside this morning.) I know Mid-City has a well known unit. My local installer has those, as well as an iDataStart ADS-BZ3 unit. Like the Mid-City unit, the iDataStart has no cutting/plug-in installation, does not need a donor key, and uses the factory key fob to activate the remote start. However, it also provides a 2-way rf remote with a 3000’ of range, and it is still $100 cheaper than the Mid-City unit. Does anyone have any experience with these? He says they have installed both and they both work well.

Best Part is, it turns on your heated seats!!!!! (my old Compustar unit didn't)
I will post a DIY guide later.

Mid City Engineering makes a nice remote start w/ the option to control it with your phone.
I have used it on a 2011 E350 and a 2011 E63 with no issues.

Thinking of picking one up for my '12 E350. Installation pricing by authorized dealers is almost as expensive as the modules themselves! I get it for the amount of time needed supposedly (4-6 hrs) but my questions is how easy is a DIY install for the Starter/Drone? I've worked on audio/media installs on other car brands but never a Mercedes Benz. Your thoughts?

I ended up getting the iDatastart ADS-BZ3. I had it installed at a local car stereo shop that installs these all the time. I have PTS, and it took them an hour. (They have the experience, the tools, plus they can bend in ways I can't anymore )
I love it. My car is parked at the far end of the parking lot at work, and I can easily start it from the building. The range is great, and the IDS remote gives me a confirmation that it was successful. Plus, I can still use my MB fob to remote start it if I get caught by unexpected snow during the day and I don't happen to have my IDS remote with me.
