Carbon Fiber Engine Cover
Hey Guys,
Any of you upgrade your engine cover yourself to the carbon fiber? Pretty easy to do obviously. Comes off by hand. My question though is what do you do about the signature placard? Is that transferable?
I am about to pull the trigger on a 2015 that is loaded for the most part. But no CF cover. Can't imagine it's that expensive. Anybody know?
Thanks in Advance

Assuming that the engine cover is the same on all M157 motors...

$957. For a piece of plastic that probably saves 2 oz over the stock piece.

I have a brand NEW Mercedes AMG OEM carbon fiber engine cover that I have still in original Mercedes OEM packing straight from Germany. Retail $2,800. Make an offer( low ball offer will be ignored ). It does not come with the signature plaque. You can simply remove your old engine cover signature plaque with fishing lines or dental floss and a hair dryer to heat the adhesive that is holding the plaque together with the cover. PM me if you have any questions. When I get sometime tomorrow, I'll post some photos of it, but like I said. It is brand new in original Mercedes OEM packaging and cover. Never install.

I took all the covers off, incl. the foam pack around the coils and spark plugs. Not to save weight but for the engine to get rid of the heat better.

Add me to the list of interested parties. Yes, the AMS set is very nice, but a bit too much for me personally. as in, for looks a centerpiece would be enough. For performance, you need the entire AMS kit.

Thanks to everybody who replied.
BTW, I am not interested in the cf cover for weight reduction whatsoever. It would be purely cosmetic. I was thinking it would be something in the $400 to $700 range. WRONG! So needless to say I am liking the cover I have now a lot! :-)

Youre right
There were internal CF, external CF, and then the engine cover. I bet they didn't sell that many of the cover option. Most "normal" people are unlikely to see the value, since no one but them can see the CF.
As far as I understand that was also the order of popularity - internerior (majority), external (small minority), engine cover (almost none).
And as we all know - pricing at new purchase is one thing, buying a new spare part is 2x (or more of that), and the value as a used part is a fraction of the original part. Just like modding in general....
