Misfire at high speed - 2016 E63 AMGS
The issue: I have done a few 60-140 runs and the car ran perfect. Yesterday I did a 60-130 and it stumbled at 130 and went into limp mode. I think it was a misfire, but could not hear it clearly. In limp mode when I would touch the accelerator, it would vibrate so bad I thought I had broken something major, but once I stopped and restarted, it runs perfect. I have not had a problem since, but have not done a 60+ run since then.
The car is all stock as far as I can tell and I had good 93 octane from Costco in it. What for you guy think I should be looking into?
Thanks for any replies!
did you get a CEL? If not, we need to pull codes to known for sure. Check the sticky for lots of discussion on this (compilation of E63 issues).

Is the ECU tuned? Just cuz you had a PPI doesn't mean that it is not.
The coil packs are weak on this car, they may need to be replaced, or at least the ones closest to the turbo (lots of heat)
Peterubers write up and video on coil pack replacement DIY
You may need new plugs if tuned, they recommend every 10k miles -- i know, you said it had a PPI, just make sure it wasn't tuned
Also -- bad gas can give you knock/misfires. We are starting to see winter blends of fuel now
The engine code will be important here. Do you have an obd scanner/reader or icarsoft?
Once we know more we can better advise you.
Also were you low on fuel? Hard runs while low on fuel will challenge the LPFP/HPFP and causes some limp mode sometimes

I have not had a CEL on this car
I was not low on gas
These are the codes. Car had no codes last week.
P0300 (Random Multiple Cylinder Misfires detected)
P0301 - #1 misfired
P0307 - #7 misfired
P0308 - # 8 misfired
P0303 - #3 misfired
I am thinking of running out the current gas and refueling before I do another test run. I guess I will change the plugs also to be safe since I just got the car.
As far as coil packs, Should I change all or just start on the turbo sides for now?

misfires
so you are probably knocking lower in the Rpms
coils first. Change all 8. You can do that yourself quick
fcpeuro has parts made by oem Beru
fresh gas also a plus
we will get this fixed, plugs with perfect indexing will be last step.

Good idea, but I purchased from a Land Rover dealer, not Mercedes. I think it is out of warranty due to the year, 2016 anyhow. The good news is that I'm pretty sure it was just the gas. I went on a long drive today after refueling with Shell gas and I didn't get any codes. Trust me, it would have had codes if there was an issue the way I drove it! I'm still changing the plugs and all coils since I plan to tune soon.
Interestingly after today I'm starting to wonder if mine may have a tune already because the MPH limiter appears to not work on my car. Isn't it supposed to limit at 156?

Prior thread on this
2014 E63 AMG-S 4WD.
Have a Wistectune on it - we tried a couple of maps and still happening even without it so I know it's not the tune.
Here is the issue - vehicle runs awesome normally, accelerates, no hesitation no misfires. perfect.
Floor it, hits 6-7+ K RPM starts misfiring like crazy and continues to misfire - have to pull off, turn the car off and back on and then it's back in business NO PROBLEM..
Replaced all the spark plugs and ignition coils but still it misfires…..
Any ideas are welcome.

Remove the tune, been reading a few horror stories with weistec tunes. Did you do a compression check and leak down test? How many miles on the car? Have the spark plugs been indexed when installed and or gapped properly?
the spark plugs have been installed right and
coming to the tune the tuner has double checked if the tune is causing it but he said it’s not
and the guy who installed spark plugs stated that it might be happening as the temp is too hot outside
what do u think…
