Light tune (up to 700hp) opinions
Please help, what do you think is the best way to get from 585hp to up to 700hp?
I have done a research and of course as an avid reader of this forum I have read many threads but I still can't decide what is the best / safest in terms of longterm powertrain longevity / effective (cost-effective) solution?
What is your experience and what would you suggest?
So far, I have contacted those and this is my conclusion:
- Kleeman - They claim they are the best and others are not and they want to tune the ECU for 2500EUR.
- Brabus - They claim .. well I don't know what they claim but they want 8000EUR + installation (plug-play box) for 800EUR.
- Performmaster - They claim they are the best and they are the only ones who do it properly and directly with AMG. Price is fixed 5000EUR for ECU tune. They were the most professional and thorough over the phone so far.
- Renntech - Very good communication, they claim they can make me happy :-) 3500EUR for a tune. Or downpipes + tune 7500EUR for 710hp.
- Racechip - Very good communication, they were actually quite humble / honest about what they offer (plug-play box) and iPhone app. 750EUR only.
- Independent small tuners - I don't know about that, it ranges from 500 to 4000EUR but I don't know personally anyone reputable.
So Performmaster said their tune reads all diagnostics data and allows the engine to use its full potential while preserving longevity (such as they can read trans. oil temp and dynamically increase/decrease power) and also they are the only ones who unlock the V-Max to 320Km/h - they can do it legally they said. Others cannot. I don't care about V-Max though.
You also get a warranty if you are in Germany, Austria, Switzerland - no other vendor offers a real warranty.
Renntech has a good reputation so I trust them somehow even though I don't know them much.
Racechip is the cheapest and the easiest and their tune box offers 7 tune programs - you can choose the one you prefer. It is also transferable to other cars (up to 2). That sounds awesome of course.
All vendors claim you will get 690-705hp from your M157.
So what do you think? Shall I pull the trigger and get the Racechip box?
Please share your experience / tell me where else to look / what to get / advantages and disadvantages.
Thank you.

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
I'm getting an AMS tune because they are local to me and have a great rep
longevity has little to do with the company and more to do with your driving style and how aggressive the tune is
however I've seen some no name companies ruin the seal on the ecu when they open it up ....

Alright so that means no name companies are out of the game for me
The question is, shall I try the Racechip tune?

I have a RaceIQ tune and I love it. I have had for about 5k miles and the only thing I did prior to the tune was go one step colder for spark plugs. The video on youtube shows a 2013 putting down 591 whp and 647 torque. I havent dyoned mine but the giggle meter definetly says its faster.

You might have noticed that I actually used the term "giggle factor" when I posted the AMS tune initial results. I don't know maybe Giggle meter is just that much better. LMAO
Seriously, just goofing on this. Not really trying to take credit. Just goes to exact word choice being everything!! lol

its definitely not the 100+ HP gain up to 700HP that they advertise but probably like 50-60HP or so and from what i've read is pretty safe. Its fairly easy to install and remove as long as your careful with the connectors. if you want a inexpensive, light tune that you can do your self and revert back to stock very easily then give it a shot....

Hi guys,
thank you for your awesome responses ) I just wanna say I was driving today and thank God I realised I don't need more hp ) When you drive in a countryside and mountain curvy roads with ESP Sport, the stock power is plenty ))
I originally planned to kick *** of my friend's Giulia but who cares about Alfa Romeo anyway, his car is back in a service with check engine light again
