Auto trunk closer not working...need help!

So my auto trunk closer is not working. The trunk opens with the key fob and interior button but won't close. The "lock" button in the trunk works as well. Has anyone experience this?

its quite annoying. I tried resetting the windows/sunroof as suggested in another thread which didn't help. I'm sure its a simple fix because this happened after I disconnected the battery for a day. Hopefully someone can chime in with a solution.

On my W211 a couple of the wires had broke that run along the arm of the trunk. I pulled the covers off, found the wires, there were three that we all colored different. I reconnected them and that fixed it. Might look there.

It does not close with the interior switch. It opens with the interior switch and also the key fob and also locks with the trunk switch it just doesn’t close.

The closing is the the motor... opening is a spring and damper ... opening will usually fail last

you have a motor problem

'15 E63 Wagon
This happened on my wagon (buttons failed to close the gate) and it turns out my wife had just overextended the gate because she was impatient waiting for it to open. I followed
to reset the opening height and the auto close/close+lock buttons resumed working again. Hope this helps.
