Yes, thanks for your insight on something I've been doing for 45 years, SMH.
The dipstick is only horizontal so I could take a decent pic.
Thanks again though.
Silitec lining has worn out on cylinder walls, Sounds like you are in for an engine rebuild soon, good luck haha

oil light shouldn't be coming on when you're stick has basically a little over 3/4 oil on it, curious to see what it shows when stone cold.

It's the same, warm or cold.

I track and autocross mine. I switched to Amsoil 0W-40 European blend. Less engine noise, smoother running and slightly better mileage. Hard to say about adding oil because I track mine and change often. The level does drop some. But, I've been 160 mph on a front stretch running flat out.

Update

Car has 107k miles now and still consumes a quart every 800-1000 miles.

It basically slowed down considerably when I switched to liqui moly. I can get 2k miles before I need to fill if I stay out of boost.

75K km, never filled oil between changes. Never seen more than 1/8th go down on the dipstick. Not to affend anyone but how do you drive hard in the US? I'm doing lot's of Autobahn driving and typically go all out if the left lane and other traffic allows it to. Even than, at 125mph, the engine only revs 3k rpm. It cut's off at 186mph at barely over 4.5k rpm in top gear. I guess I have a hard time trying to stress the engine at all.
Curvy back roads tend to eat more tires but the engine barely get's up to rpm and the next turn comes up.
All in all, it's fun, whatever you do with this car.

how do you guys know that it’s burning through a quart? Do you guys get a “low engine oil” light?

I am 3000+ mi into my first oil change after buying this car earlier this year. Have not seen the warning but I also haven't checked it on the dipstick which may be a little dangerous. I am running Liquimoly Molygen 5W-40. 102k on my 2014. My 04 E55 positively drank oil (but it ran awesome).

I think I heard this is common for cars with turbos.
Did you ever hear this ticking sound with your car??
