Radar Detectors- What are you using?

I hope this is posted in the correct place.

I wanted to know what people are using for RDs in their W212 E63s? ? I have always used a RD and currently have a hard wired V1 in my BMW and a Uniden R3 in my GTI. I am not against having a Passport hard-wired in my soon, new E63s but was thinking that all I REALLY need is an R3/V1 hard wired. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

TP

Valentine1 with a Bluetooth dongle to connect to my iPhone running V1Driver. Now it’s super quiet with gps filtering and improved range.

I use a V1 with YaV1.

Very happy with it.
Quiet.
GPS blockout of known alarms, self learning on any false alarms. Quiet on my drive to work except for proper alerts.

Have used been using V1 detectors in my vehicles for years, and very happy with them. Being able to update is nice, as my first one was purchased over a decade ago.

You guys have great taste! I love my V1 but the R3 really is amazing...Do y'all have them hard wired? if so, was it east in a Mercedes? I hard wired my BMW as there was a walkthrough online but I had the GTI done professionally.

Pair the V1 with V1Driver or YaV1 and you’ll have far more functionality than the R3. Yes, mine is hard wired. It’s mounted next to my rear view and powered ny an accessory ignition switch.

Chiromikey - do you still recommend the V1 detector if not hard wiring it? I need a radar setup but was looking for one I could use and plug/play between 2 vehicles. Thx for any feedback.

I have it hardwired in mine but plug in the power cord in my wife’s SUV. I can only deal with it not being hardwired for occasional use. But I wouldn’t do a V1 without it being paired to a smartphone app. It gets annoying with the false alerts in commercial areas.

Glad radar is still working for you guys. I stopped using my V1 because it was falsing constantly, less from stationary sources, more from radar-based sensors used in even the mainline auto brands now. Waze is working well for me.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
Also just got a R3 around 1 month ago, to take the place of my 2-years old Redline. And just returned from a 2K miles road trip with the R3. Redline is to be put up for sale sometimes next month.

I have a newer V1 from 2017...I traded in my old one.

You CAN program them. We don't use a lot of K here in FL, typically KA. I filtered out all of the K and now I am free from all if the false alerts. Also, the newer unit has the Junk filter.

Are RD's sophisticated enough to give an alert well before the police are locked on?
Do any of you use Waze for navigation? I find the Police alert works really well. Always someone ahead of you that report it.

Escort Max Ci360 - has performed well all around in live situations with detection, although can't comment on the jamming feature.

thz otakki - PM me if your gonna sell your redline and any model info you have. I’m shopping RD now which I definitely need with this car as my luck so far with Waze to avoid speeding tickets will catch up to me I’m sure

+1 AND, ALP active laser jamming system! In Cali, it's almost all laser now. The only thing my radar detector is good for is telling me there is a cop nearby when they forget to turn off their radar.

With the Escort Max360 you can turn off "K" and "X" bands such that you only hear "Ka" band. In California, Ka is all that is used for speed detection. Every now and then one of those carts on the side of the road that tell you your speed is "K" band, but who cares, they don't give tickets. Point here is when you eliminate K and X bands, you don't hear alerts every time you pass by a grocery store's auto doors and when you hear alerts there is usually a cop seen pretty soon.

Exclamation

Recently: Uniden R3. It's arguably the king of the hill, currently. Have not hard-wired it, but I've always done so with my old Escort Passports and will do it with this, too.
I'm actually here looking around for info about doing just that.

Not sure if the RV mirror option works well/at all on my '11 ML550 -?? Anyone????

The R3 is outstanding. I had not heard of it until some guys over on Rennlist brought it up. The functionality is second to none. When I buy my E63 my V1 will be hard wired as my R3 is in the GTI...love my V1, also.

I personally use the R3 and will tell you that that thing is on point. I pass cops all the time, no alarm because they're not using anything. Then I'll randomly be coming around a corner or up a hill and the R3 goes nuts...about a mile later...there is the bacon!

K40RL360I X,K KA Laser and Optix laser defuser for both front and rear. Built into dash. I believe this is the best system out there. Very reliable and no problems. It has remote to control everything. You can silence system and just have the blue lights blink telling you either front or rear.. Or it talks and says what radar is being used and weather it is front or rear.
