2011 e63 amg
new engine

Hello AMG fam
i have a 2011 e63 AMG with 73k miles on it
i recently got the car and I was driving on the interstate when I start hearing some rumbling from the engine area(failure sounds) but no leak no smoke nothing so I parked on the side and towed it to Benz dealer that they called me today and said there’s a damage in the bottom part of the engine, the crankshaft might be bad or bearings but they don’t what exactly the problem do they told me I’d have to get a new engine and i have no warranty nothing.
Anyone know about that or can advice me to do something about that?

Yikes. Aren't new AMG engines from MB like $50k or something? You may have to find a used engine on eBay and have an indy install it. This is assuming your bottom end simply cannot be repaired. If I was in your shoes I'd get a second opinion on that (again from a respected indy).

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned

FInd out if your engine had the notorious head bolt problem; you can google m156 benz headbolt problem; if so, ask Mbusa to have some mercy on you and give you some financial relief for this repair

you can find an m156 on ebay

I am thinkking the CAMs lobe issue.

Unless oil changes were far and few and incorrect type.
My W211 6.2 early 6.2 had no issues as the later 6.2 seem to be experiencing.
Knock on wood I don't think I would ever get back into a 6.2 knowing all these issues.

My 2011 spun the #5 rod bearing at only 58k miles. The whole thing was chronicled with pics too in a thread something like "My 2011 totaled from an engine ticking sound?". Fortunately I had a reputable 3rd party extended warranty that covered it for only a $200 deductible to me. THEY PAID $19K !! This paid for a new crank shaft ($5k in the box alone), all new main bearings, all new rod bearings, and a new rod for #5 to be on the safe side. Dealer had the car for about 2 months. Ugh. If you scored the cylinder walls in the block, you are looking at even higher cost repairs. My block was still OK. If you are out of warranty, your best bet might indeed be to find a used engine replacement as others here have suggested.

Good Luck

2011 E63 AMG
What's your VIN number? Curious what production engine you have.... only the very early 2011s had the head bolt issue...
