The op should get a proper diagnosis from the dealer and he has warranty coverage. He's also helping this community of owners resolve future issues by documenting what's going on; I appreciate this thread; why pay for a new battery when the dealer should be covering it

Update on My Battery
Just picked up the car from the dealer. Took it in for an O2 sensor on bank 1 that got replaced. I also told them the battery was showing signs of dying. They put it through their paces and said it was marginal and went ahead and installed a new one! No cost. I love my guys at my dealer. They take great care of me and the wife. I guess having bought 3 other new cars from them in the past together with them doing the service on about 5 of our cars over the years helps get the VIP treatment.
No headaches. No hassles. They even installed the foam gasket in my front end for the freeway whistling that just started after they refinished the front end. I will update the gasket in the gasket thread. Everything done in 1 day too.

Update. Picked up vehicle form dealer. They changed the Pushbutton start button. They said the existing one was drawing some kind of current or something for up to 93 minutes after the vehicle has been switched off. I’ll give it a week or 2 and see if any of my old symptoms pop up again.

Glad they may have solved it

So it’s been a few weeks. Been driving the vehicle regularly , my shorter trips, as well as a few 25 mile trips.
Very very cold the last 2 days. Did some errands today. Drive 2 miles, stop for 10 minutes. Drive 5 miles, stop 10 minutes. Then , when starting again , large strain when starting, like 1 big surge when you sense the car won’t start, but then it catches and starts.
What do you guys thing? Should I “force “dealer to replace the battery given the troubleshooting that has already been performed?

Brought the vehicle to garage , they installed new battery.
I told them that we've wasted enough time on this.. etc. etc... kindly.
They weren't reluctant to change it.
Also had them change front speaker which is in center on top of dash. I listen to A.M stations often. On certain volume and or pitch , I would hear annoying crackle type of sound. Did not happen often at all. But I did mention it. The service advisor didn't blink an eye , he had seen this more than once. { thought it may be useful info for others ]

I actually had the driver's door HK tweeter swapped out a few months back for a "sizzle". The tech got in the car and started asking me questions like "are you listening to HD sources when this happens?" I really worked hard on not laughing at him, and politely explained that I was once the lead loudspeaker designer for Velodyne Acoustics and know enough to point out a fried speaker. He back peddled and said "Um, OK, we will change it" The problem was solved when he did. But I wonder how many other non engineering types unfortunately get sent on their way without getting a proper fix.
This event btw was an anomaly with this dealer. As I have reported, they have taken very good care of me for the most part.
I do hear a harshness now and then that I have not pinpointed. But thanks to your post I will investigate that center dash speaker. So thanks.

ive never needed to trickle the aux, it doesn't take much to keep that agm battery charged so it's not a super big deal. It's a backup battery and the bcm is monitoring its health and will alert you if any issues.

no, it will not charge via the main battery on a trickle charger. You'll need two chargers, one for main and one for aux

Good day all, so ive had some hard starts in my e63, 2012, 60000 miles
recently its been residing outside and it has been cold, this morning i did pushbutton start and for some reason the horn started blaring, i pulled out the button and did a KEy start and it worked but still didnt seem like a smooth start...its been doing sorta weak starts for a month or 2.
just to confirm, Battery size is a H6....and is there any tips or tricks to installing one of these...or should be just straight forward...there are a lot of cables attached to these
for my other cars...i just undo negative, undo positive, swap and put back positive, put back negative...add a little dielectric grease and thats it....id like to do it myself because i know the cost for a Mercedes stickered battery will be atleast 400+ plus lost time at dealer.
pepboys/autozone are my local sellers so plan to pick up something from them
i will trickle my battery tonight though and do a voltmeter check, though i know thats not as accurate as taking it and getting a load test to check cca
btw my battery was changed under warrenty maybe in 2014/15 cant recall
aux battery is original i believe

Lucky for you! After they replaced mine, it was dead 3 weeks later! What are the chances they would replace a dead battery with a dead battery. After the 2nd replacement, all is good, Been fine for last 3 months. I can even go longer stretches than I used to with radio on before dash tells me to start the engine .

I’m on my 3rd aux battery in my CLS. Each time a brand new battery and within a few weeks I’m getting the “convenience function unavailable” message. Vehicle tested under full load ( headlights with high beams, max air and radio and brake still outputting 14.1 on the meter) Guy told me if this one doesn’t do it I should consider another manufacturer. I whole heartedly agreed with him.
