Spark Plugs

Hi, I know thefre's other threads on the How-To topic, but my question regarding the cost my dealer wants to charge. Is the $710.00 they want to charge me typical?

Thanks

$710 USD sounds way too high for a spark plug change. I just picked up a 2014 E63 S and took it to Eurocharged here in Toronto for a new set of spark plugs among other things. The cost for the plug change was:
$26/plug x 8 = $208 CDN
$110/h labour x 2 = $220 CDN
Total $428 CDN + tax
The plugs were a bit on the expensive side but this was still around what I was expecting having done plugs my self in previous cars. The plugs were NGK two step colder plugs as well. I would ask your dealership for a cost break down to see why its so expensive. Hope this helps.

Did you get the stage 2 tune? is that why you changed to the colder plugs? I'm contemplating that too.

I found the best deal was part of my 70k service where spark plugs, oil change, brake fluid are done

Yes The car is scary fast right now. I haven't even taken the cats off to take full advantage of the stage two tune yet.

ahh, makes me really want to do it. By taking the cats off you'd be getting down pipes right which would take full advantage of the stage 2 tune?

I always wonder what it's like to have even more power than stock already.. 800hp / 1000tq must be crazy.

Get the Stage 1 and keep your stock plugs. I changed my stock plugs at 61,000 km! Car has traction issues at 100 km on the highway when I punch it!
Use 94 octane and shouldn't have misfires!

I am still deciding on which tune to go for. The OE tuning with their year end promotion is pretty good.. even after conversion, it's still the cheapest tune so far.

Must be crazy to have traction issues at 100km on the highway .

I've always used 94 on all my AMGs. Never heard about misfires though.. if not running 94 will increase chance for misfire? My C63 is also tuned, but I've always used 94 on it.. even before tuning.

I am going in tomorrow to get it dyno'd! Watch their site and IG for updates. I'm pretty sure they'll post it up!

Throttle response is a lot better, not that it was lacking before.

Hoping to go in to get some 1/4 mile numbers in the spring. Best stock time was 11.62 @ 122.00 mph (most traps were around 121.x mph) on a humid day running 91! Had a 50+ pound bag in the trunk, don't know if that makes any difference!

I've been told by the dealer that the 2012+ E63's need the plugs changed at 60K miles. I changed mine at 37K miles.
