So I've had this sound pretty much since I got the car - when you start driving and drive at low speeds you hear this ticking/fluttering sound. Usually disappears at high speeds or at rest. Eventually goes away after you drive

The reason I am bringing this up now is that my wife drove the car, heard the sound and convinced me to bring this to the dealer before the warranty is up.

Figured I'll also ask on this forum.

Here is the video I recorded today. For some reason I cannot hear it when I play it on my computer very well but if you play this clip on your phone it is very audible. Basically very fast tac-tac-tac-tac in the background.

I don't drive it very much so I have only about 14 K on it.

does it happen primarily in 4th and 5th gear at low rpm? I had a similar noise that went away after the car fully warmed up (20+ minutes of driving), sounded like it was coming from the engine bay, but oddly enough it went away on it own.

Is it speed dependent? 50-60kph? And only after a cold start until the car warms up? This might sound strange, but while it's making that sound, open your console between the front seats and see if it gets louder. It sounds similar to the issue I had, which was slightly misaligned hanger bearing housing on the drive shaft, repaired with a 2mm shim. I also had low miles when I had the issue, MB said that they are built to tight tolerances so they "fall" into spec when broken in. Take that for what it's worth.

when you guys have/had the sound did it go away when letting off the throttle? Mine only did it under slight load and would disappear off throttle.

same thing here. '16 wagon with 31kkm (approx 20kmiles) happens at 55~58km/h (around 35mph). Will have to use that new car warranty and get it checked out.
that odd fluttering sound that happens when cruising at town speeds with accelerator slightly applied. Goes away if I lift off.

Edit: There was a previous thread on this. Seems to be prevalent. Cold weather, around 55kph.

This same thing occurs with my E63S. It occurs around 30-35mph and is more obvious when the engine is cold. The dealer claims that they are unable to replicate it, but they're clearly lying, as it's pretty much clockwork.

Yup, a shim was required from mine. Took multiple attempts but providing an audio clip for them to share with Germany apparently was did it.

Unfortunately I do not. Checked emails and no longer have the trail nor the original file. Just what was posted to YouTube in my thread.

Update:
Brought to the dealer. Dealer put 45 or so miles on the car trying to replicate the sound.
Took the car back and drove it - so far no sound.
My suspicion that it will reappear the day after my warranty expires.
