My worry is if the ECU keeps mileage. Or some way for them to know the car was ran with a different ECU. If there is not, the 2nd ECU might be the loophole.

Do we have or know of anyone here who’s had an issue with a 2nd ECU and warranty?

Axel rod....are you making this up? Maybe the Kididler pump REALLY is way the Mastertech can tell there was a tune?

Finally understand the need for this and why a Master tech would be looking at this.

I have a buddy who works as an SA for MB and I asked him about the dual ECU for my CLS550, while it's not an AMG I presume the electrical components are somewhat similar. His answer was even with dual ECUs, there's two other areas where data is logged, and that even if you change ECUs, data can be pulled if need be.

Whoa. Please ask him to elaborate.

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
Will repeat my initial post:

1. Yes we can do it
2. Nothing is 100% safe for warranty
3. If you have doubts don't do it
4. AMS cloned my ecu
5. Nothing is 100% safe
6. I have 3 years of ELw warranty left and have no worries

2014 E63 S model
When I had weistec W3 turbos, I had an electrical fire in my engine bay car was brand new it was fixed under warranty.

later on I had struck mount squeak also fixed under warranty. This time with GAD decals all over my car and an engine bay that looks almost nothing like stock, they still fix it under warranty.

and my case as long as the trouble was not to do with the aftermarket work they were okay with it. If your motor detonates or transmission is slipping obviously would not expect warranty to cover that.

And honestly it really depends on the tech working on your car!
I know of a M157 car flagged by a dealer for aftermarket exhaust by a fill in tech which resulted in most warranty claims associated with the engine being denied (timing chain tensioner and motor mounts). The aftermarket exhaust was just a deletion of resonator btw.
Once the tech puts his notes in and this somehow gets elevated, takes an act of Congress to undo those key strokes!

Yikes. No fun. If I bring my car to the dealer, I allow one sa and one tech, only, to touch my car . No valet, no car wash...only those guys above. I know many of us do this here, but for those don't know you can do this, ya can.

How’d you get to meet the tech?? I’m friendly with my SA, but i have no idea who the tech is that i get.

Honestly, I lucked into it, via network of friends. Many of which are German car peoples.

I also know of a W212 with aftermarket turbos, full exhaust etc etc that has had just about every warranty work done with NO issue from the SAME dealer. Different SA and tech was the only difference.
Having a one SA/one tech (has to be mod friendly) do work on your AMG is paramount to not having warranty issues. More important than just about any other suggestions I have seen on this forum to date (dual ecus, obd flash, stock exhausts, etc etc etc)

You can actually ask your SA or service manager to meet you tech or better yet request the shop foreman to be the only one that touches your car. Talk to your service manager, you do have the right to make the request.
