I have Jonas Lechner. And on another note, what seems to be missing from my engine cover? If nothing, what is that little screen for? It has come loose. Thank you.

Marcel Bichof built BOTH of my M157 motors. Strange coincidence. So the fact that his first engine in my car was replaced, might remove him from contention. Lol. Honestly though, I doubt it was his fault. More likely it was a block defect.
I can’t remember who built my M156 in the 2011. I need to go look at some engine pics and report back.

Maybe when they have to replace a mill, they make the same tech "stay after school" and build the new one, lol...

Good one.
The truth is that the new motor was already sitting in a crate here in N California along with 3 others. So it was already built. It would be interesting to see what sig placards were in the other crates. Assuming they were not all Marcel’s work, it does make this quite a coincidence.
I also wonder if each tech’s motors might be assigned to geographic regions. So if someone else has a 2015 in Northern Cali, let us know who your builder is. If it’s Marcel??? Hmmmmmmmm
And lastly, as we discussed in a different thread (brand new engine from MB thank you very much), these placards might only be a marketing thing. Case in point, I was told by my SA that got a full tour of AMG plant, that these techs build about 1 v8 per day. Thats about 250 per year. This makes my coincidence seem much more crazy. Would be good to know how many total techs they have building these. We could then calculate probabilities of getting 2 from the same guy if we also know total M157 sales per year.
Do the math. MB produces 30k AMG engines per year with the forecast to build 40k engines per year. If a man can build one a day, how many men does it take to build 30 - 40k engines per year?

Well, math is something I am pretty good at.
First, this is the first amg total I have heard reported and I believe I mentioned that this was needed info. All AMG motors are not built in the same place either. V8 builds only are what I’m after.
The numbers for non M157 building techs do not serve to answer the probability of Marcel building both of my motors.
So, when I have the relevant numbers, I will gladly do the math.

250 per builder, so...120 to 160 builders. Not a lot of employees, not really... Based on US fulltime employment of 2000 hours annually, 8 hours per day.

Reason: Add more info

And how does this help answer the question of how many M157 engines were made per year? This is needed to calculate how many techs build OUR engines. Knowing these 2 values THEN allows us to calculate the probability of 1 customer getting the same builder twice.
Its not clear to me how this seems to keep being misunderstood.
Thanks for that math though. Pretty easy to do that in my head. But again, it does not answer the question at hand.
This article says 40 - 50 build the M157 but in another article is said there are 200 that have build plates and certified to build engines all but 5 are men.
