They don’t work for us. I tried 3 different styles and lengths. I could get the sensors to quit throwing O2 codes but then they’d throw codes for not getting warm enough.

^^^That's the problem with these things is that you have to fine tune the diameter and length to be just right. Which is difficult to do especially with a wideband upstream.
Also knowing whether MB is using fractions of the upstream sensor or a preset parameter that the down stream runs would be helpful but also I was unable to nail that down on my old car.
Use Star to turn them off like we used to do in the old W211 platform. You will pass inspection with no lights. Renntech does that for you for a low low price of $900 -$1200 a pop 😉 so I know it can be done on this platform.

NYS Inspection and CEL
In NYS you will not get an inspection if you car has a CEL or No CEL but the monitors are not set.
So if you turn off your CEL via star and the monitors are not set you will not pass.
You are allowed to have 1 not ready.
I know this pain all too well from by 211 and will never delete my CATs if living in NYS.
I had luck with extenders on other cars but never BMW AMGs.

Same exact situation here in Cali. I just battled this when trying to sell my 2011. A couple of monitors refused to set and it was totally stock. Dealership ended up replacing the ECU under the 80k miles smog component warranty. But this cost me about 3 weeks of time to get it resolved and get the certificate while I had a buyer waiting and getting nervous about the car. All ended up fine though in the end.
