Shift to neutral at stoplight with AMG MCT?
Looking for some definitive knowledge here: when stopped at a stop light, should I shift into neutral or stay in drive? I know there are passionate arguments for both sides, but is there a consensus for our cars? Any techs or mechanics out there that can provide a definitive answer and explanation for the Speedshift MCT?
Thanks in advance!

The definitive answer is leave it in drive, or apply brake hold.
The safety of being in drive while at a stoplight by far outweighs any anecdotal esoteric theoretical benefit to shifting into neutral.
drive your car and enjoy the hell out of it!

Car goes into neutral by itself when stopped anyway. That's why when the adaptations to the clutch pack is off, it jerks when it re-engages the moment you let off the brakes slightly.

Is this really true? Is the tranny smart enough to shift to neutral while remaining in D? wouldn't we feel that shift occur if it did?

This is not limited to the MCT, a lot of regular ole auto trans do this nowadays. I felt my wife's old BMW doing the exact same thing after a software update some years back.
I would guess it's easier to hide the jerking on autos than MCTs and DCTs
