Small Plastic Part Painting

I seem to have lost the drivers side jackpoint cover, I sourced new parts but they come primed. I found what I thought was the spray touch up paint from mercedes: 000 986 30 50 9799

It came with two cans, one 'spray paint metallic' and one 'clear lacquer'. I'm starting with the spray paint metallic but after a few coats, it doesn't seem to be white at all, feels like it just has metallic flakes and a very slightly tinted base Any ideas?

Do you have diamond white pearl?

If so that's a tricoat, code# 799

you seem to have painted palladium or dark gray

i think I see "799" on the can on the left ... they clearly gave you a mislabeled can. With white pearl there is a white flat basecoat, then the metallic coat, then the lacquer

I had the same thing with paint code 799!! I ordered Mercedes touch up, which came with two bottles, white and clear. After putting 3 coats of the white, it was still completely gray. I called the store wanting a refund thinking it was the wrong paint, and they told me the same thing, it’s a tri-coat.

But, what is this mystery missing paint and where does one get it? What i bought is the original Mercedes touch-up for this color code...

Glad I'm not alone, in the future I'll go with one of the other touch up paint suppliers. For now I'm hitting the easy button and ordering from https://www.paintedoemparts.com. I'll let you know how it goes when the parts arrive.

Your best bet is to go to a car paint or body shop supplier or go directly to a body shop and have the paint mixed and tinted to your VIN and then put in an aerosol can

I found my paint code next to the tyre pressure spec plate, located on the A-pillar (I'm in Australia, so they always do things ***-about here ;-p )

I've attached a picture for Aussies trying to work out paint colour codes. My Aussie code says C799, which is for White Pearl (in Australia it's called "Diamond White BRIGHT - Metalic" - as shown on my attached order sheet)

What are the part numbers for those jackpoint covers? I just found mine are missing as well.
