Switch to summer wheels

Just about the happiest time of the year for us cold snowy winter habitants, changing out to the summer wheels time!
Although my pilot alpins are awesome winter tires, having the michelin ps4s on is just so much better. better ride quality, more suppleness, more feedback, all around a much better ride.
those of you who don't have to deal with this, consider yourself blessed.

Amen!

[But recall most of those people have to deal with scorching hot summers and nasty critters instead - no free lunches.....]

Fair point.
On a related note, the summer wheels are triggering the TPMS error. in that it doesn't recognize it. Anyone know how to program them?

This page has some great information, does anyone have experience with it?

Usually it will connect with any TPMS sensor that is in the right frequency, so should not be an issue.

Sometimes a reset of the TPMS sensor can make it work. Either you use a fancy tool like the installers, or you can deflate the tire (down to single digits PSI, and then immediately pump them back up to the correct pressure.

Pretty nearly a "free lunch" here in Cali Bay Area C !! No bugs like back east and typically low to mid 80's in the summer. Sure we have occasional hot stretches for a week or so in high 90's but not more than 3 weeks max per year.

So actually, I am feeling pretty blessed! lol Of course we PAY FOR IT with our ridiculous cost of living. A decent 4 bedroom ~2200 sq ft house is about $1.4M on average!!

It is usually somewhere between 1.3 ~ 1.5 percent depending on which Bay Area county you live in plus the local taxes factor in. So you are looking at a little under $20,000 a year for the 1.4mm house. Proposition 13 which passed a long time ago has kept the property tax rate relatively low compared to other states.

But it's really scenic out west no? I'm in NC where the cost of living is much less, but it's all relative I suppose.

Yeah -- I just filled up the other day and paid $1.869/L for 94 octane fuel, which works out to just over $7/gal. That being said, I didn't buy an E63 because it was fuel efficient...

I just got my summer wheels and tires out of storage today. I'm actually going to put the summers on my E550 and have those wheels refinished. Hopefully by May 1 I'll have the summers on the E63, and nice refinished wheels on the 550.

The wheels on my 550 have a machined face that I'm going to keep, but am thinking of going to a darker grey on the rest. . .but I'm also a sucker for stock.

You don't want to know. LOL And thanks to Donald's new tax plan to rape the blue states, I can only deduct a maximum of $10k for property tax, state income tax, vehicle registrations, etc. COMBINED! So when considering this, and the fact that our property taxes are 1.25% annually of the house purchase price plus small annual increases, my property taxes alone take me well over the $10k limit. I have friends that have already retired from Apple paying as high as $30k/year in property taxes!! Ugh In fairness they are living in $3M+ homes.

Enough about taxes and cost of living. What I really want to know is whether I should darken the painted area of these wheels. The face is staying machined Aluminum. As it is now there isn't much contrast between the Aluminum and silver paint. Newer Mercedes wheels are a bit darker. I don't think I'd want black. I'm thinking something closer to Selenite grey rather than the Iridium silver to put it in MB body paint parlance.

Expensive cars, expensive property, it's all in the same realm isn't it?
I have two sets of wheels one silver, one painted black. I'll snap a picture so you can compare. Both oem rims. I'm rather ambivalent about black wheels but it does contrast nicely with the red calipers.
I did a 5hr highway drive yesterday on the summers, it's so so nice.

My friends were telling me about $1.70+ for regular gas. That's nuts. It's becoming a place only for people with f u money.

Here's a set of wheels that's been painted black. It's the oem of the pre-facelift. I'd encourage you not to go black, it erases a lot of the details.
