Take off steering wheel

Does anyone have write ups on how to remove the steering wheel? I’m planning to redo the whole wheel in alcantara with 12oclock stripe.

You don't say what year it model, first Google videos with year and model, most late model MBs are similar. Step 1 is to disconnect battery to prevent airbag from going off in your face, ugh, then follow instructions, you'll need a steering wheel puller, borrow it buy at your auto parts store. Make sure your wheels are straight and mark the wheel with a sharpie so that you can put it back exactly where you removed it. If you're off even o e spline the wheel will be crooked and drive you crazy.

Pretty spot on except for the steering wheel puller. It's just held in with a screw but it might be on tight. After removing the screw, you can mark the spline and the steering wheel with a sharpie before pulling it off so it lines up correctly when putting it back. Of course that won't help you if you're putting in a new steering wheel.

Just think, the whole steering wheel is held in by one screw. Leave that out and you can just yank the entire steering wheel off and hand it to your passenger and tell them to steer.

Well actually it one bolt and when it's tightened at the factory it results in a force fit onto the threaded stud, meant so that it sure won't come off easy. So borrowing or renting or buying a puller will be required. When you reinstall the wheel be sure to tighten it down just as much.

A puller is not required to remove the steering wheel on any Mercedes made in the last 60 years. Not sure about anything older than that

The best or nothing
Look up the tightening moment and apply Loctite if you want.. it is the easiest job you can do to make your car interior feel/look nicer.
