there was more optimization to be made simply from opening up circumferences and widths in existing designs and you can certainly consider those
when I had a cai on my Acura I was always worried about sucking up water
what about a ram air hood? Has anyone done that?

not sure that there is ever really a need for a CAI for turbo/intercooled cars. even if the air filter was sticking outta the hood....you still have to take that same air through a turbo thats heated to almost 1000 degrees. any minor drop in temp that you get is negated by having to pass through the turbo on the way to the engine. its the reason that the intercooler is AFTER the turbo instead of before it....
