hello every one, please help,i got a 2016 e63s few months ago with 39xxx miles and now 46xxx with dp changed and a tune from outside guy name Alex in brooklyn, and now every time on S or S+ and manual with gear 4-5 around 4000-5000RMP also happened on 3000something rmp,i read the code myself come out iagnostic trouble code(DTC)detected P061A,try to find the tuner, but he dont wanna help, went to dealer, they scan it saying it maybe the throttle vale and they update the software for me for the throttle vale and tested no problem and pick up the car from them, but the next day i went to PA for car meeting it happen again on just S mode with around 3k-4k RMP,just wanna cry,i just want the car has pop and bang don't really care the speed,so any one could help me out for this case.
When it goes into limp mode does the engine feel like its running VERY rough? I don't remember the code for it, but I had similar issues with my earlier renditions of my tune from AMS. It was basically a timing issue where it advances too far and gets knock. If you are having this occur you need to pull over immediately and shut it off for a minute and then drive it easy to get home in C mode. Basically what happens is when your ECU senses knock it shuts down the cylinder(s) affected. This causes a real imbalance in your motor and can cause damage sooner than you think.
The best way to determine if you have a timing advancement issue is to disconnect your ECU for 20 minutes entirely. You can do this in about 2 minutes without hand tools. You don't even need to disconnect your battery.
If you reconnect it and your problem goes away for a few days or a couple of weeks you will likely have the issue I am describing. If it is this though, it will return eventually. If this is it and you can't get the tuner to fix it, you will likely need to get a tune from someone else to correct it. I'm surprised the dealer did not find your tune on the car. You were a bit lucky. Of course you know if you tell them about your tune, you will likely lose your warranty.

Why would you go with a non reputable tuner????
Call the guys at Eurocharged and start over before you destroy your motor.
yeah,it have to pull over and shut it off and turn it back on and you can go but the engine light is on but after 1-2 days or on and off few times it will be gone, and i have 2 friend working at the dealer ship 1 at the part side and 1 is the service advisor so he also try to update the throttle vale to match my tune...lol,but it failed.and i m trying to ask the tuner from street to take the tune off and see it still happen.thanks so much for the reply!
my friend just told me the same one and only 212 motoring carie it around me and i will try to take off the tune and see it still limp mode first.thanks for your reply!
Mercedes E63 AMG S, Lamborghini Huracan, BMW M3, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT
I was on the highway driving home from college in my E63 AMG and the same thing happened. I was using adaptive cruise control and was going about 70mph when it was set to 85mph. The car in front of me got out of the way and the car automatically downshifted and accelerate, but it then went to go shift up about 3 seconds later and stuttered very badly. I then lost all power and when I read the OBD II scanner it popped up code p061a. About a day later the check engine light went away. I don't know if is should take it in or just keep it in the back of my mind. When the check engine light went away I took it out, got the car warm and punched it about 10-15 times and the car was perfectly normal.

What’s up Andy. I’m pretty sure we got our cars tuned by the same kid and I’m having the same problem. What was your fix? Getting the tune taken off?
What am I missing?
You buy a car for $30-60k, that was originally $110-120k, and at the edge of what AMG delivered at the time.
You then save $1000 to have a tune done by an unknown guy that then is NOT standing behind his work and now you are wondering why **** is breaking?
That makes no sense.
Ask your dealer friend to flash back to stock, make sure car drives OK and then ask Santa for a reputable tune.....
