Switch to winters time
Ever since the michelin pilot alpins, I honestly don't feel theres that much of a sacrifice anymore. It's absolutely incredible.
It's also a good chance to take off the summers and clean everything because holy brakedust. I joke that somewhere under there, there's a wheel. I find off the shelf Vim to work very very well. Cuts through and clean just after a few wipes.
On a subjective note, I use the pre-facelift 19" e63 oem wheels as winters and they're significantly heavier than my oem summers even though they're both forged construction. Doubt tires would make that much difference, 295/30 vs 275/40 rears.
After a morning of interior cleaning - 9:1 distilled water and rubbing alcohol and subsequent leather conditioner and wheel cleaning/swapping a nice moment in the sauna for the back/neck and it's football time!
rlevy, your wagon will power through anything. With the alpins on one trip I went through all the following;
-20C, snow, blizzard, fresh snow, packed snow, freezing rain, ice pellets. The car with the alpins handled it like nothing else.

Edit: Also, FWIW, I'm running the same staggered OEM setup (F:255, R:285) for winters and it's great.

SLe - your car will also accept 18" rims and it'll clear the brakes no problem. I had 18"s for winters on my previous E63 to fit tires with taller sidewalls. Used 255/40/18, square setup, OEM 18" rims.
On the 16 wagon I am using a staggered setup due to tire availability when I first got it - 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 Pilot Alpin 5's. I like to go one size narrow and one size taller.
Samz: Edmonton?

I was about to run 255/35/19 on all 4 corners on my 14 but found a set of new 285/30 245/35 for 800 bucks. Couldn’t say no.
Yessir, I’m commute between Edmonton an Fort Mcmurray
I think the PA4's might have more grip than the almost-dead Conti 5P's on the front of my summer set. Can't wait to not put those on next spring, got my year out of them, time to die MFers. Other than mroe highway noise, the PA4's are almost year-round worthy if you don't mind burning through them fast
The Rial M10's are still a nice looking wheel for a dedicated winter set. Also, pleasant surprise, the car still remembered the TPMS from last time they were on thec ar, didn't even have to do a re-learn
For what it's worth, our square 255/35-19 on 19x8.5 ET32-ish (can't recall what size Tire Rack sells) wheels PA4 set doesn't make the car handle weird. THere is just soooooo much understeer built into the chassis. I have to try really hard to break the rear end loose, TC has to be off, and you have to really ape the steering and throttle. This car gives you the tommy lee jones looking over the top of his glasses in the fugitive look when you try to hustle it in a corner - son just wait until you can see the track-out point and then we can go

MB World initial setup
MB world snows discussion - miles later
Only thin to add is that the Replika wheels held up well all season. Hit some potholes and are still straight.

Wilson, there is a post I made here showing clearance. it's close but it's fine. i haven't gotten any marks or scratches in the wheel well liners.
