Creaking Panoramic roof

Hey I know this is a common issue.

I have a 2015 and my roof recently started creaking/popping on any type of incline/uneven road.

I still have the extended/CPO warranty, but they are telling me extended warranty doesn't cover this and that its an 11 hour job........

Has anyone had this issue FIXED with the cpo/extended warranty? Let me know please.

Only 1 dealer here in 80 mile radius. The Buffalo Dealer is also owned by same people.

See if you can find an indy to do this video. Just a few bolts. Use loctite afterwards to stop the bolts from loosening up again.

I fixed my own.
Watched the video PeterUbers linked about 30 times.
It IS as simple as what this guy describes in the video. Just gotta grow some nuts when pulling down on the headliner. If I had to do it again I'd skip taking the ABS tabs trying to mess w/ the C pillar trim (I couldn't get the trim free after taking out the ABS tabs)
I strongly recommend getting this ratchet
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XYOUS6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XYOUS6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
instead of using a standard socket to work your torx bit. This ratchet will specially come in handy when doing the screws at the back of the roof.
And, yes, you will likely cut your hands with the sharp metals the headliner is hiding on the inside of the roof.
I was done in less than 2 hrs and I took my time. Saved about $1500+ (that's what I heard the dealer will charge for this job). Knock on wood... it's been silent since.
GL!

Mine is making creaking noises as well. Every time I bring it to Mercedes and they can never fix the issue and finally I will be bringing it in to a shop to have it tighten up and hope that will solve the problem as they are charging me around $500-600 for the work.

Dealers can NEVER REPRODUCE a symptom. The only thing they can do, apparently, is to use a scanner and replace parts said scanners tells them to replace.
It honestly isn't a difficult job to do.
Mine got to a point where it'd pop and creak while going over anything hat was uneven.
Hope this shop resolves your issue.

I'm going to attempt the DIY this fall. I'm up to 57k miles and it is noticeably worse than 20k miles ago.

They're basically charging too much. I had my indy mechanic do it and it was about an hour. Basically the standard procedure is to drop the entire headliner, but you don't really need to do that as you watch the video, you only need to drop the back half and it doesn't take that long at all. It's dropping the front half that's really complicated and it doesn't need to be done. And you do have to use loctite afterwards otherwise the bolts will loosen. Did mine years ago and it's still tight now. They're not even really bolts, I'd consider them more like screws with a torx head. It was almost anticlimatic once the headliner was done, unscrew those 6 fasteners, dip them in locktite and then screw it back in then pop the headliner back on. Should only be billed an hour or two for labor at most.

It is a snap on sorta affair, but one would really not wanna crease the dang thing and have your nice alcantara headliner look wrinkly after all that work cutting up yer hands!

It's not that sharp and parts of it is held in by velcro so you just need to pull hard enough to separate velcro. Might have bent mine a little but once you put it back up, it smooths over so you don't see anything.

I need to find an Indy that will charge one hour of labor time.

Well... it was sharp enough to cut my hand. It's been a couple of years since I tackled this, but, I don't recall any velcro. I believe the edges around the sunroof opening were kinda snap on.

You should really try doing this yourself. It really isn't hard. Save a couple hundred $!

And loctite isn't even that much, about $6.23 on Amazon for 6ml although the 50ml is about 8 times as much and only about double the price. Although you don't need much at all for just 6 bolts.

Amazon Amazon

There's really nothing to break. Worse case is that you might put a crease in the headliner but it disappears once it's flat again, Don't pull too hard on it and wear some gloves so you don't get cut.
