Help with Hp Tuners
#2
I been meaning to finish a write up i have for the forum to help get started with HP tuners and the parameters to use for our engines, but i havent had the time to finish and post it.
DM me, we can exchange whatsapp 3's and maybe i can help you get started.

Uncanny timing! I just got my MPIV in the mail the other day - now I have no idea what to do next. Assuming plug it into the laptop and magic starts happening.
Looking to just datalog for now - 5soko has me wondering about that throttle body nonsense, as well as seeing if there are any stored codes. Longer term I’m hoping it can replace paying $2500 for a Renntech tune.
I wasn’t sure but I believe I can pull codes with my other cars. For $300 this better make me some pancakes in the morning too.

What's the throttle body nonense?
I'm looking to just data log too and get some logs over to Jerry @ EC with it running E85.
I've purchased a UDP air intake spacer which I'm going to install once I've had my tcu tune done in march.

Throttle body closure is used by many engines to control boost and overboost or unstable boost. On pump has, this becomes more of an issue than on race gas, as pump gas is always a bit harder to tune due to limitations and small window of thresholds. So you will see more throttle body closure activity on pump gas. Some is normal to help correct boost and set it where it should be, but big massive closures will hurt performance and that is not what you want.
In our cars in first gear, throttle closure is used to limit the amount of power our cars make to match the tcu tq limits.

It was a post showing the datalog of the throttle position during WOT and how the TCU was retarding it, presumably to protect the drivetrain. I just found it interesting that MB decided that route instead of other means such as changing timing, inducing slip in the MCT, opening the wastegate etc. to give a more linear launch. My old 4g63 DSM could launch better than this piggy.
Or hey? How about build a drivetrain that can handle the actual TQ the stock car puts down?
