E63S W212 Pre-owned?

Hey Everyone,

I'm new here and never used threads but I figured it was time to get associated with one for my new pre-owned 2014 E63S W212.
Just a few questions and sorry maybe some have been answered previously if so could you just place a link to that thread, as I've searched a bit but haven't found solid answers.
So I'm going to potentially pick up this E63S Saturday, it has 110,000kms (i'm in Canada) so that'

s roughly 68,000 miles. I heard these are solid cars, I was wondering if there is anything i should look out for buying one of these used, I plan on getting the extended warranty for 3 years. Also I noticed when driving it, it pulled to the right when accelerating hard. What could cause that? The sales guy said he'd get it checked out and fixed, and that it may be a tire balance issue. I also noticed as I left the car that there was a hiss after. He said it was the air suspension leveling the car, is the hiss normal? Other than that it seems like a good car. Do you guys think buying one with this much kms is a bad idea? i plan on keeping it for 4 years maybe 5? by then it may have 170,000 kms.. Finally is a bad idea to get a engine this old tuned ? thinking id like some more hp prob 650 hp tune. If so should I go local or just by a stage 1 Renntech tune ? I do apologize if some of these are answered, just need some quick expertise before i see the car tomorrow. Thanks again.

Hi and welcome to MBWorld!

I am moving your post to the W212 forum where I'm sure current owners will be happy to share their experiences. Good luck!

I will do our friend Peter a solid and link his hard work here: https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...-w212-amg.html

I am no expert on this, or any (for that matter), platform... just to quickly address one of your questions. The "hiss" you are referring to. These cars do level themselves after you have shut them off. It sounds like a quick/brief lil "psst" and done... not a slow and prolonged "hiss". Just make sure this thing doesn't have a suspension leak.

If you pull the trigger congrats! The engine is pure joy but everything on these cars is expensive right down to the license plate holder so get ready to abuse your right foot and wallet. Get the warranty (if only to pay for the inevitable air suspension failure) and tune only if you have a pile of discretionary income laying around. Nothing should blow up if you stick to the standard tunes and keep unqualified people away from the engine bay.

Is it me or does it never get old seeing pictures of these cars???

I pulled the trigger on a 28k mile 2014 E63 last Sept and haven't regretted it for a moment. Got a resonator delete for a bit more growl and had a remap from a well known UK tuner and Eurocharged dealer in November.
The car made 666bhp and 1051Nm and is just how I like it. No regrets with the tune, fortunate in being able to buy 98Ron fuel everywhere. With the S you have the advantage of having a slip diff already fitted. I can tell you these cars even stock need one.
Hope you enjoy your car. It looks a beauty.

I’ve owned mine for less than a year and the air suspension already threw codes and had some parts replaced under warranty (air pump and a bus bar), less than 30k miles. Was told by a MB Renntech sales guy that these usually crap out in the 60-80k mile mark so extended warranty could pay for itself on that alone if bags go too.

Spend some time digging through the forum and you’ll see where the failures start to happen, should give a good idea of what these cars can handle and where to put your $$.

I bought mine last October with about 100k on it, it was already tuned but unknown tuner. I then had it put back to stock by MB then had a Eurocharged E85 flexfuel tune 3 months ago. I live in France I got in contact with Eurocharged in Houston. My car made 725rwhp and 983nm. My best 100-200kph so far is 6.2secs.

If you get E85 in Canada I'd recommend the tune!

Ahh ok I hear you, how much was the cost if it wasn't under warranty if you happen to know?

Nice!! Glad someone has one with some miles on it with a tune yours looks great by the way! Love the black amg rims. I'm definetly looking to get a tune done once I pick mine up this Wednesday I had originally said I'm going to Saturday but some stuff had to be done. So if all is well I'll sign the papers Wednesday and leave my SRT for this new beast. I'm looking to get the same Eurocharged tune as well but I was told that I gotta wait until boxing day or black friday (I forgot which one)for their annual once a year sale. Really wish they had at least 2 sales per year, so I'll just have to wait also do you or anyone do their own brakes and oil changes?

Covered under warranty so no idea. Parts were a relay, air compressor and fuse box. My guess is $700-800 in parts (compressor is $600) and 3-4 hours labor since they had to trace out the problem. So ballpark $1200??

Have had the car in the stealership 2 other times for various bugs, nothing major. But keep in mind it’s been less than a year. Still - fantastic cars, no regrets so far.
