Cosmetic ideas for MY'12 sedan
Since our daily is just out of it's extended warranty I'm keen to add a few cosmetic enhancements as well as some er... 'moar powr'.
Ive deliberately kept this original until warranty exit, it now has a massive 61,000km on it and it's time to loosen it up a little with some carbon and some tuneage and maybe a nice set of rims (although I do actually like the OE rims).
I'd appreciate some ideas / recommendations for good quality carbon and while I'm at it, some ideas on the most appropriate exhaust/tune/tcu mods for a rwd e63
Thanks in advance.
obligatory pic below, since I'm new on this site.
Yes, it is still original.
I'm not looking to go bezerk on it.
I'd replace the hood ornament with a flat one.
Lower it. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but, personally I think the right stance does more for the car than an expensive set of wheels. But, why not do both?! Perfect combo!
Add a tune. Many members have gone with Eurocharged, AMS, Renntech, etc.
Maybe downpipes to maximize tune?
Done.
Have fun with the modding!
Kind of like the star on the bonnet, mostly because it's not an SL.
There are some things about the design heritage that I prefer over the ornament-less 20x/21x/22x sedans
Lowering this one is not an option here unfortunately, I have lowered 3 of the other 4, and it's not an ideal solution for this country - roads are not billiard tables down where I live.
The others have slightly more to 'give' in that respect, to get a functional but appealing stance.
There are only really two decisions I'd have made differently in hindsight - one is I should have had the carbon package (horiffic price here though) and carbon-ceramics.
Mind you, there's nothing wrong with the brakes, or the lack of carbon. It's a clean looking car and The colour option is certainly at odds with most AMG's here, which is a blessing.
I was curious about the carbon rear roof splitter and the exhaust valance (lower inset) in carbon and a carbon splitter on the front, to 'fake' the lowered stance look. Not ideal, but cosmetically I think I can cope with potentially scraping the front.
insofar as tunes go, I'm thinking now is the time to push it to around 500kW's but that's all arbitrary, as I know from experience that numbers have little relevance to real-world other than standing 400/1km times. I'm not a straight line guy.
I grew up on karts and bikes, so corners matter, and I have other vehicles to 'thrash' which have better manners in twisties and much less mass. This is our long-haul monster, and it's effortless for 1400km interstate trips.
Anyway, Some compromises will inevitably be made, and perhaps my avg fuel consumption figures of 12.5L/100 for the vehicle since day 1 are a thing of the past, but I can unequivocally state that what it DOES need, is some angry pipes.
Is the real restriction in the downpipe/cat and not the manifold? The only thing I really want to 'keep' are the understated looks and possibly the rear tips, or some Brabus ones, but eh...
Anyone here have an Eismann exhaust? I was looking at their system, seems to be a good idea. Not sure if Weistec do RHD m157 parts, but their modular/downpipe setup looks like a good idea?
I'm not heavily into modern aftermarket for 212's and would appreciate others experiences with products and in particular what to avoid.
cheers.
