Limited slip diff or not?

Hi Folks,

Maybe the collective smarts can figure this one out. Recently purchased an '11 E63. Great car. I don't see "limited slip differential" or anything to that effect but Googleing the part number on the side of the diff leads me to a couple of eBay listings that says limited slip.

Am I just reading the number incorrectly? I see 2033510705.

Thanks guys!

Best,
Paolo

Thank you. I've checked that, that option isn't on the Data Card, but this part appears to be a limited slip differential unless I'm reading the part number on the case wrong.

If that's the case, previous owner had it installed at the dealer? Was that a common occurrence?

Here's my car:

Curious not so much because I'm a spec-***** (although I do always need to have a car with heated seats), but because I want to know what fluid I'm supposed to buy! This is the last fluid that I haven't changed yet.

Thanks guys!

Your vehicle is on the crutches. So put in Neutral, spin one wheel and watch the other. It the other spins in the opposite direction, then you have OPEN diff. The situation with 471 indicates factory LSD option. Even if not shown, you must allow for the previous owner and possibility of aftermarket upgrades. The housing is the same. Best of luck. By the way, I would use 75W-140 as it is a better multigrade juice, locker or not.

Thanks for the tip maxusa! Redline fluids ok? Always had luck with them in transmissions.

I am sorry, no experience with this brand. Perhaps, others can comment. I am somewhat conservative, and refer to MB approved list 235.61 Gear Oils (Hypoid gear). Check this recent thread on the same topic. Applies to MY11 W212 just as well.
